TRIGGERRUN, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Triggerrun (TRP) is one of the greatest hidden treasures in underground music.
As early ambassadors of bringing New York Hip-Hop music to the South (Albany, GA), TRP would dance their way into the hearts of millions performing center stage at the Apollo Theatre thus forever changing hip-hop culture with an eclectic ensemble of southern hip-hop infused with the NY flair mixed of acrobatic routines that would introduce to the world spin-offs like America’s Best Dance Crew, You Got Serve and Stomp The Yard!
After a brief hiatus from the music scene, Herbert “H3TheArtist” Bowens would make his way to Atlanta to pursue his passion for the theatrical arts finding himself casted in Hollywood’s box office hits “Drum Line” and “Stomp the Yard” before reconnecting back with Anthony “AK” Washington and Nathaniel “Syncere Akil” Whitfield into the music scene in 2021.
Known for their world renown eclectic style of dance and music that crosses multiple genre’s of musical influence, TRP is brand ambassadors of “Feel Good” music thus returning Hip-Hop back to the true essence of community.
In 2024, TRP would reach another major industry accomplishment as they become recognized as recipient of one of the most prestigious awards in Independent Music by YO! ATL RAPS, 2024 KING OF STAGE!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. The road back has definitely been challenging however, it’s part of the process. Case in point, we started out as a nine (9) man crew and only three (3) remain.
Father Time has a way of challenging a group’s longevity and we are no different. We have fought against a plethora of changes including everything from marriage and raising families to death, both literally and physically, as for some who you just have to love from a far.
It’s the circle of life but praise GOD we have persevered through it all!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
TRIGGERRUN primary focus is in the music industry. However, they have began to venture out into providing musical services and consulting to independent film makers across Atlanta which also has introduced the group to expand their talents into acting as well.
Lead by Herbert “H3TheArtist” Bowens, his acting debut would come to two of Hollywood’s big block buster box office hits, “Drum Line” and “Stomp the Yard”.
Eventually, both artist would eventually find themselves teaming up with Artistic Genius Production on the upcoming indie film, “When Love Lies”, which is soon to be released in 2025.
What sets TRIGGERUN apart from others is their connection and ability to identify with all genre’s of music.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Honesty is by far the most important characteristic important to the group’s success. Creating a place of equality to promote and champion respect in the creative process which is important to help the group in its collaboration effort knowing that we are all sensitive about our contribution but want to ensure that whatever we put out in the universe is for the best interest of the group as a collaborative whole. Therefore, respecting each other’s creative process by speaking the truth about a given idea without offending the creator is the utmost important to help us foster healthy relationships both in and outside of the music.
