Check Out Andrew Kearney’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Kearney

Hi Andrew, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After suffering three major concussions in my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I was forced to step away from the sport I loved, soccer, and found myself searching for new passions. The COVID-19 pandemic brought additional challenges, but it also reignited my creativity. I began painting, building things, and exploring new hobbies. My family and I started visiting the bowling alley more frequently, and before long, I had my own bowling ball and was working in the shop.

Bowling quickly became a new passion. This dedication led me to the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where I fell in love with the program and committed to competing collegiately. I am now a rising junior majoring in Advertising and Branding and I plan to pursue a master’s in Creative Business Leadership after completing my undergraduate degree.

At SCAD, I’ve been heavily involved in university engagements, working as a project manager for a cooking show, and serving as a student-athlete and ambassador. My roles have honed my leadership and public speaking skills, preparing me for my next steps in the creative industry. I am passionate about using my creativity and leadership to make a positive impact, whether through my work or my nonprofit, CONVERGE ATL.

CONVERGE ATL, a nonprofit I co-founded, promotes creative education and celebrates meaningful positive impacts through creativity in Atlanta. Our principles—CREATE, COLLABORATE, CULTIVATE, CONNECT, CONVERGE—guide our mission to unite the community through creative solutions and inspiring projects.

Born and raised in Austin, TX, I found my love for photography and filmmaking through adventure. My travels have taken me backpacking in Alaska, scuba diving in Belize, and even rolling down a mountain in a hamster ball in New Zealand. These experiences have shaped my passion for documenting life and telling meaningful stories. My goal is always to bring about meaningful positive impacts through creativity and leadership.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The main struggles I faced are health issues associated with the major concussions I suffered, causing brain fog, memory loss, sleep issues, and more. These health issues make it difficult to find passion and commitment everyday in my work, but they do not define me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a creative leader studying advertising, and working to capture incredible stories with my camera. I run a non-profit called CONVERGE ATL dedicated to empowering people to use their creativity for social good.

I like to say that my work sits at the intersection of business and creativity (Something that my Business professor Vincent Donroe-Wells taught me).

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Dressing professionally, showing up on time, and being willing to push boundaries and try new things without permission. Showing assertiveness and agency.
