Today we’d like to introduce you to Dj Misses
Hi DJ , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a DJ 10 years from Cleveland, Ohio that has a passion for ALL music, from making mix CDs for friends to singing in the choir. College is when she started to venture into being a serious DJ. After months of practicing & patience; 2013 is when DJ Misses was born. DJing the hottest events and traveling in and out of state, Misses has been on top of her game. She has done everything from concerts to DJing for celebrities such as, Khloe Kardashian, Tristan Thompson, Teyana Taylor and more. Misses is definitely a people’s choice for the popular nightlife. All over! DJ Misses is definitely an experience! She has a very fun, chill, & funny personality & unique style especially with her glasses! Now fast forward she’s located in Atlanta, GA. She is also a mixer & personality for Reach Media on nationally syndicated show Posted On The Corner. Misses has done concerts such as: Z1079s Summer Jam, 21 Savage Concert, Hot 1079 Birthday Bash, One Music Fest and more! Nothing can stop her…just wait to see what’s next!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s never really been a smooth road, especially in the beginning. Being in college AND trying to get my name out in a male dominated industry. I went to school for Chemistry ( shout out to the black women in STEM), so imagine doing clubs during the week; staying out until. 3am then have class at 8am! Dealing with clubs and promoters trying to take me out on dates INSTEAD of just paying me for my work. But i stood tall through all of it, was able to graduate AND earn my respect as a DJ just by simply standing on business.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I learned to DJ from some of the best in Cleveland, Ohio who made sure I became one of the best. I love the art from of DJing, making people feel good just from music. I specialize in mixing / blending. I’m known for my DJ tag, ‘MISSES’, when people hear that drop, they know it’s me baby! I’m most proud of the fact that, I found my purpose, my passion & I’m blessed enough to be able to continue to do it for a living. What i feel sets me apart from others is…I care about the people, I want to make sure whoever is in the club, spending their LAST has a blast with me, i love to give people nights to remember.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe its going to keep growing, DJs getting more RESPECT & more women entering the field. I don’t think it’ll be considered male dominated anymore. Women are taking over.
