Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Pratt
Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Once I turned 50 year old I decided to pursue my desire to become an artist. I started taking art lessons from Gretchen Talmadge Allen, a wonderful artist and great teacher. We met 2 times a month for about 6 years. When the pandemic hit, my Grandson Elijah and I were watching videos on youtube on Acrylic Pour Art. Especially Mixed Media Girl. Elijah asked if we could try it. So we did and fell in love with this type of art. When doing Acrylic Pour on Canvas there is always run off paint. Instead of throwing that paint away I use it to make Jewelry. I was making it for my own personal use and people were asking to buy it. This started my business. I set up at 3 Farmers Markets during the week and some on weekends. I also do craft shows and festivles. I couldn’t do this without the support of my Husband Tim Pratt.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have been pleasantly surprised by the support I have received from the Vendor community. From the first show I set up at and even presently, The other vendors have been very encouraging and helpful. They share ideas with each other and guide each other to other events. It is a great community to be part of.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Artist. I specialize in Acrylic Pours on Canvases, Vases, Coasters, and Jewelry. I also sell Prints of my Acrylic Paintings. One of my favorite and most popular painting is the Lion I did for my husband. The original is on a 12×16 canvas board. The painting is named Scars. It represents when Life tried to beat me but, failed.
I feel what sets me apart from others is each of my pieces are unique. I love trying new things and doing commison work for new clients.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite Childhood Memory is when we moved From Illionis to Colorado when I was 9 years old. Seeing the mountains for the first time was beautiful and that image stays with me today.
