**From Fashion to Aesthetics: My Journey to Leading SkinLab**
My journey to becoming the Clinical Director at SkinLab began with a deep-rooted passion for aesthetics, which I’ve had since an early age. After graduating from the University of Georgia with a marketing degree, I quickly realized that my true passion lay in the world of fashion, skincare, and beauty.
My father played a significant role in shaping my interest. He started a cosmetic distribution company in South Korea, which included a manufacturer, his own Korean skincare line, and a chemical lab where chemists developed skincare products for both his company and others. Growing up around this business gave me unique insights into the beauty industry and ignited my passion for skin and beauty care.
Right after college, I decided to take a leap and opened my own beauty studio, Pristine Lash and Body Bar, with my sister. This experience allowed me to dive deeper into the beauty industry, but it wasn’t long before I realized my true calling was in medical aesthetics. With my background in beauty and aesthetics, I began helping franchises and small businesses grow their aesthetic practices.
Today, as the Clinical Director at SkinLab, I oversee a dedicated and growing team. My focus is on making SkinLab the premier med spa in Georgia. With a strong foundation in both the business and creative sides of the industry, I’m determined to set new standards of excellence in medical aesthetics.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Developing a med spa comes with its own set of challenges, particularly in operations. One of the primary hurdles is ensuring consistent quality of service across all treatments, which requires meticulous staff training and ongoing education to keep up with the latest advancements in aesthetics. Additionally, balancing the medical and luxury aspects of a med spa can be tricky; it’s essential to maintain a clinical environment that meets stringent health regulations while also creating a welcoming, spa-like atmosphere. Managing the logistics of scheduling and inventory, especially with a wide range of products and services, adds another layer of complexity. Furthermore, building and retaining a skilled team in a competitive market can be challenging, as it’s crucial to have professionals who are not only technically proficient but also embody the brand’s values and vision. All these factors require careful planning and continuous improvement to create a successful and sustainable med spa.
