Today we’d like to introduce you to Tommy Mars
Hi Tommy , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began training under Cody Rhodes, QT Marshall, and Glacier at the Nightmare Factory. I lived in my truck on two couch cushions and had $200 moving into the city. I had a very bad physique, and zero idea on what I was going to do, but I knew one thing I was going to make it, Over the course of two years i’ve worked every single weekend whether it be 1 up to 6 shows in a weekend to fine tune my craft stretching everywhere from Miami to Boston. Its led to me being backstage at WWE, AEW, ROH, NWA, and more. Now i’m off to Los Angeles to edge my craft even more, and get a different perspective before coming back to my home Atlanta,
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. Like I said I lived in my truck while I started training, i’ve lived off of peoples couches ( shoutout to the pirate.) dog sat, car always breaking down, getting fired because I chose to wrestle in New Jersey and and sometimes I couldn’t even afford ramen noodles. I was starving in the back of my truck throwing 8 shirts on when it was cold, and sleeping naked when it was 100 degrees at MIDNIGHT. I feel like God wanted that to happen to me honestly because it taught me how to be a man, and be thankful for everything I have going for me now.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a professional wrestler, and I specialize in getting the women, and the children involved with the show. The single men love me too but the ones with girlfriends not so much haha.I am known for having drumsticks, walking out with leather pants with whatever accessories I throw on that day, my presence and my energy… especially with the groupies. I’m most proud of getting to work with my coaches honestly a legend like Billy Gunn, gettin thrown in the ring by Cody Rhodes on the fly on Smackdown
( no pressure haha) and my highly underrated coach QT Marshall.
The thing that sets me the most apart is that i’m willing to do the work tape studies, working out, reaching out to promoters, constantly upgrading my gear, and staying consistent with everything, This is my life. A lot of people want this, but I need this. Don’t get me wrong I grew up wanting to be a professional wrestler my entire life, and now I need this.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The main person that deserves credit is QT Marshall he’s set me up for success in so many ways, and I am thankful for that. I’m thankful for all the great peoples he’s brought in for seminars, for TCW which is a great show because it’s all trained talent with proper coaching, and for all the life lessons he’s taught me by him just being himself in a world of artificial people.
My tag partner who’s road most roads with me and traveled half the country with me Nikki Eight. We’ broke in together and have been at the hip since. Can’t thank him enough for being honest, and giving consistent feedback on matches.
If I miss someone i’m sorry, but all these people deserve credit to my career. Billy Gunn, Cody Rhodes, Luke Sampson, Ray Lloyd, Chris Harris, Scott Barnett, my girlfriend Ash, my parents, the pirate, and my brother,
