Daily Inspiration: Meet Yolanda Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda Williams

Hi Yolanda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I created Dorothy’s Place as a dream that I once had about providing a safe and comfortable place for our children who are displaced and/or homeless. Dorothy’s Place is a haven where kids combine stability with that sense of belonging. So I wanted to provide a facility for young people. This will be a full-time facility that will house our displaced teens providing counseling for all our residents as well as education. At the end of their journey, they will be able to go into the world educated, financially stable, and fully functioning adults.

I lived a very hard life. I lived for a long time with the thought of not having anyone loving me and not feeling wanted. Fortunately, someone stepped into my life who taught me the meaning of hard work and determination and it was life-changing. From that point on I did not want any child to ever feel like they do not belong. So, I created Dorothy’s Place, a place where no child can feel how I felt and to know they are wanted, needed and they are a great addition to our world

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
