Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Mendez
Hi Steven, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
A year ago I walked for the first time in NYFW. Since then I’ve had so many opportunities. From being invited to Good Morning America to being the first ever brand Ambassador for SFS. It’s been a dream
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There has been a lot of learning along the way for the most part. All of this is still brand new to me. I’ve never been a model let alone the face of a brand before. Lucky, I have a great team that won’t allow me to embarrass myself out there. It’s a lot of work and we all have to do our part to make it work. I can’t thank them enough. There wouldn’t be a me without them.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well last we spoke back in February, I was traveling from New York to Atlanta to Miami. I was a panelist for the NYFW SFS Fashion Exclusive. I had a great opportunity to share my story and answer as much questions as I can and help inspire other models/ creatives that are new to the industry. Flew to Atlanta for a shoot and did another Panel for the SFS ATL division. Did a quick gig in Miami and some R and R before getting back to NYC to wrap up my projects. I like to think I get so many opportunities because I am consistent and I give it my all no matter what I do. Whether it’s acting, modeling, project management, anything. I will never go home unsatisfied with my work. I am proud of that.
What does success mean to you?
For a long time I thought success meant reaching the mountain top in any profession you choose. But lately I’m seeing success in every milestone you hit as you climb to reach that mountain top. And once you do reach the top, there are so many other mountains to climb. Meaning, you will never have true satisfaction if that was the case. I believe you should celebrate every milestone you achieve in your journey. This makes you proud of your work and want to continue to be better which will make you successful.
