Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Treglown
Hi Megan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I had known since my college days when Instagram first came out that social media would be a part of my future. After grad school, I landed my dream job with the City of Rome as the Downtown Marketing & Event Manager. For over six years, I delved into all types of marketing, social media, and public relations. I was also able to work with local, small businesses and see where they needed support.
After over six years, I was ready for my next adventure! Wanting to stay in my community, there were few jobs in the marketing field available. I had always dreamed of owning my own business and helping other small businesses with social media and marketing; so I took a leap of faith and started MegTreg Collective.
I have now been in business for over a year and have loved every minute of it! I have learned a lot about owning my own business and honing in on what I want my business to look like. I have worked with businesses in all types of industries, from used car sales to major hotel chains, and have had the opportunity to work with clients as far as California.
I am so excited to see what the future holds!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I decided to take a leap of faith, I thought I was crazy. And so did many others.
2023 was an extremely hard year. I was recently divorced, had just lost my mom a month prior, was moving into the house I just bought, and starting a new business with only one client.
But starting my own business gave me the space and time to heal that I needed. While it was not a smooth road in my first year, it was the year that I needed.
As you know, we’re big fans of MegTreg Collective. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Most importantly, I can help small businesses with social media and marketing. Whether you need someone to manage socials completely, audit your profiles, or give you a content strategy, I can help. I also do coaching sessions to assist with anything from social media strategies to marketing campaigns and strategies. I also teach classes on Canva, social media basics, and traditional marketing strategies.
I spent over six years working for Downtown Development, which specializes in small businesses. Not only did I do marketing and social media for downtown as a whole, but I was able to really learn the struggles and needs of small businesses. I think that’s what I am most proud of – that I get to work with small businesses.
I make sure my price points are affordable so I can help the small businesses that need it most. I have a variety of options and packages available and also provide hourly rates for custom marketing projects. I truly get to work with all types of industries, and it is never boring!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I also love being involved in my community! I currently serve on several boards including the Heart of the Community, Junior Service League of Rome, and am a founding Executive Board Member of the Children’s Museum of Rome. I also love to support our many other nonprofits. For example, I was a celebrity in the Rome Celebrity Dance Challenge in 2023 and won the Judge’s Choice!
I am also a chamber member and was honored to be named their Young Professional in 2023, followed by being named Jacksonville State University’s Young Alum in 2023. Being involved in the community is a huge part of my life, but it is also a large part of my work, too. It allows me to connect with other businesses and nonprofits!
