Check Out Kenzie Welch’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenzie Welch

Hi Kenzie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From the time I first heard the word “career”, I knew I wanted to work in fashion. My journey started when my parents divorced and I would spend the weekends with my Dad who loved dressing up and styling himself. We would go shopping together and he would teach me about styling myself and how to shop. After graduating high school, I got my Bachelors of Arts degree in Apparel Design & Merchandising and have been working in the fashion industry for over 10 years. One of my first jobs out of college was working for a lingerie company. During my time there, I learned how to bra fit women, and it was there where I fell in love with helping women feel their confident and beautiful. I would be in the dressing rooms with women, and they would share their stories about what they struggle with when it comes to style and it made me realize how many everyday women were struggling with fashion. I went on to work for a marketing agency, where I helped with creatively directing and styling fashion campaigns. In 2018, I began privately styling clients and in 2020, I started taking those tips I was teaching my clients and created videos on social media. For a year, I worked 3 jobs – working in marketing, styling, and content creation until I was able to quit my job full time. Within 3 years, I’ve grown over 1.5 million followers across all social media platforms and in 2024, my viral makeover series was featured on Good Morning America.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has been full of winding roads and uncertainties . I always knew deep down that I wanted to be Entrepreneur, but for many years I lacked the confidence that I could do it. Throughout my career in fashion, I’ve dipped my toe into many different jobs, from retail to fashion writing and marketing to styling. Looking back, I think those experiences were valuable to my journey, because now as an Entrepreneur, I’m able to tap into all of those skill sets on any given day. In 2018, my husband was transferred from Charleston to Atlanta for a job, and that meant that I had to take a job for money rather than passion. For two years, I worked at a marketing job that had no fashion clients and I was miserable to say the least. At this time, I was almost 30 years old and I had felt like I”d given up on my dream to be a stylist. It took an incredible amount of strength and discipline for me to pick myself back up and start over at 30 years old. But that’s what I did. I started making videos with zero followers, and the rest is history. It’s a reminder that it’s never too late to begin a new journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an Atlanta based Fashion Stylist and Content Creator. Not only do I style clients for a living but I create educational styling videos on social media, along with my husband Christian Crouch, who is my business partner. I’m most known for my viral makeover series, where I cast participants from my community and film a full style makeover episode – which includes shopping and before and after transformation. I’m most proud of the community of women I’ve built and the content that I make. My mission has always been to make fashion feel less intimidating for the everyday woman or man and it makes me proud to know that my content is valuable and helpful to people.

I think what sets me a part from others, is that I focus my content on the storytelling of my community and their struggles with fashion. While there are certainly videos about me, I do my best to create content that will resonate with different body types, races, backgrounds, and fashion challenges. I think this is unique because it gives women and men the opportunity to relate to someone just like them, who isn’t an influencer or celebrity.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’ve always been a fearless networker and I don’t get embarrassed to make the first move. I think the best way to seek out mentorship is to reach out to those who inspire you or motivate you. Social media is a great tool to do this, and you’d be surprised at how many people open and read their DM’s. I also think it’s important to fearlessly network in rooms where you feel intimidated – a strong handshake and confident voice can go a long way!
