Meet Thalia Amaya of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thalia Amaya

Hi Thalia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Origin of the Idea: FONDOGRAPHIC was born out of a personal need during my time as a Community Manager for a clothing factory in Medellín, Colombia. While creating visual content for social media, I faced a challenge: the lack of attractive backgrounds for my photos and videos. This frustration led me to explore creative solutions using fabrics, cardstock, and other materials, igniting the spark to develop photographic backdrops that would help entrepreneurs and businesses generate impactful visual content from the comfort of their homes.

Product Evolution: As I refined my designs, FONDOGRAPHIC evolved to offer not just backdrops, but also decorative props, photography and marketing courses, and content marketing consulting. This holistic approach allowed me to connect even more with my clients, helping them enhance their online presence.

International Expansion: The adventure took a significant turn when I decided to move to the United States to study at a language school. This experience prompted me to expand my team in Colombia, ensuring uninterrupted production. I also ventured into Amazon and launched my own website, facilitating online sales. From Atlanta, I managed to expand operations to other countries, including Brazil, Puerto Rico, Europe, and surprisingly, even Dubai and Saudi Arabia. This expansion was fueled by the success of my reels, which went viral and attracted international customers.

Connections and Logistics: To make this expansion a reality, I established a partnership with FEDEX, allowing me to manage international shipping efficiently. This was a significant milestone in my journey, enabling me to reach a global audience and meet the growing demand for my products.

Brand Mission: FONDOGRAPHIC focuses on empowering entrepreneurs and photographers to create visually appealing content from home or their offices. Our backdrops and props not only beautify the scenes but also transform the content creation process into a creative and enriching experience.

Challenges and Adaptation: Throughout this journey, I have faced numerous technological challenges, which have driven me to diversify my services and stay up to date with market trends. My commitment is to continue innovating and providing relevant solutions for our clients, ensuring that FONDOGRAPHIC remains at the forefront of visual content creation.

Conclusion: FONDOGRAPHIC is more than just a backdrop company; it is a bridge that connects entrepreneurs and creators with the potential to tell their stories in visually appealing ways. My journey has been a mix of creativity, adaptation, and connection, and I am excited about what the future holds.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I moved to the United States, I faced significant challenges in managing FONDOGRAPHIC while balancing my studies and adapting to a new environment. The factory was still in Medellín, and the physical distance made it difficult to oversee operations effectively. Creating content became a logistical puzzle; I needed to coordinate everything from afar while ensuring that the quality and vision of the brand remained intact.

Fortunately, I was able to build a supportive team in Colombia who stepped up to help manage production and keep the creative flow going. Their dedication and hard work have been invaluable, allowing me to focus on my studies and expand the business. However, it’s not the same as being there in person. When issues arise with suppliers or production, communication becomes a challenge. Everything relies on phone calls or contacting third parties, which can lead to delays and misunderstandings.

This separation has taught me the importance of trust and delegation, but it also highlighted the complexities of running a business across borders. Despite these obstacles, I am grateful for my team’s support and resilience, which has been crucial in navigating these challenges and continuing to grow FONDOGRAPHIC. Each hurdle we face only strengthens our resolve to succeed, reminding me of the power of collaboration and the importance of being adaptable in an ever-changing landscape.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a social communicator and journalist graduated from a university in Colombia, specializing in digital marketing and paid advertising campaigns on Google, Facebook, and Instagram. I create content strategies for social media and am known for founding FONDOGRAPHIC. Additionally, I produce content for various businesses, including restaurants, car dealerships, realtors, and attorneys here in Atlanta. In Colombia, I gained recognition for helping entrepreneurs through marketing and photography courses, as well as selling my photographic backdrops.

What I am most proud of is how my work empowers other entrepreneurs to enhance their brand image and improve their sales. Seeing my clients succeed because of the content I create is incredibly rewarding.

What sets me apart from others is my ability to navigate challenges with creativity and resilience. Moving to a new country while managing a business back home was no small feat. The distance presented significant obstacles, especially when coordinating with suppliers and ensuring quality control. However, I embraced these challenges by leveraging technology and building a trustworthy team in Colombia.

This experience has fostered a unique perspective that combines strategic thinking with innovative problem-solving. My commitment to helping others and my willingness to adapt and think outside the box allow me to create tailored solutions that truly resonate with my clients. Ultimately, it’s this blend of creativity and dedication to overcoming challenges that differentiates me in the market.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
One surprising thing that most people who know me or my work might not realize is how much my journey has shaped my approach to creativity and resilience. While many see me as a successful entrepreneur and digital marketer, they might not know that my path was not always clear-cut.

Moving to the U.S. to pursue my studies while managing FONDOGRAPHIC from afar presented significant challenges, especially with the added pressure of maintaining quality and communication across borders. During this time, I discovered a deep passion for problem-solving and innovation. I learned to embrace uncertainty and adapt quickly, which ultimately led me to develop unique strategies that empower my clients.

Additionally, my commitment to helping others goes beyond my professional work. I genuinely believe in the potential of every entrepreneur I encounter. This belief drives me to continuously seek out ways to support them, whether through courses or tailored content strategies. So, while many know me for my marketing expertise and the success of FONDOGRAPHIC, they might not see the personal journey of growth, resilience, and dedication that underpins everything I do.
