Conversations with Marty Darracott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marty Darracott

Hi MARTY, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
At the age of 10 I was introduced to alcohol, nicotine and pornography. I soon became dependent on all 3 and stayed that way until I was born again at the age of 23, in 1993. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1996 and felt the call to full ministry while on my first missions trip to Bogota, Colombia in 1999. I entered full time ministry in August of 2001 and served as a youth pastor for 18 years. After the birth of the North Georgia Revival in 2018, I transitioned into the role of Executive Pastor, where I currently serve today. I have had the privilege of traveling coast to coast while preaching summer youth camps, fall retreats, church conferences, revivals, etc…

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road thus far has been anything but smooth. My Grandfather who lived with my parents, brother and sister since I was 10, past away while I was on my first missions trip serving the Lord and His people. As a young believer in the Lord, it was extremely difficult for me to understand how I could be carrying out the Great Commission in obedience to His word and have my Grandfather pass away. Why would something so tragic happen, how could something so devastating and heartbreaking happen to me while I’m doing the Lord’s work? Another example of the journey being rough is watching people get hurt by the church and end up walking away from the local church altogether. Some have even walked away from the Lord completely.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an Executive Pastor on staff at Christ Fellowship Church in Dawsonville, GA but most people know me as the one who does most of the baptizing at the North Georgia Revival. I am absolutely honored to be able to be in the baptismal pool as people have a beautiful encounter with the Lord. My heart to give every single person that enters the baptismal waters at the revival the time and attention they deserve is what I want to be known for. I want to be known for someone who wasn’t too busy or too self absorbed to minister to those that come from all over the world expecting to meet with Jesus in the water.

Any big plans?
