Exploring Life & Business with Elizabeth Kay Pinder of Harry Norman, Realtors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Kay Pinder

Hi Elizabeth Kay, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am an Atlanta native — I have lived in various parts of Metro Atlanta throughout my life. My mom and brother and I moved from Fayetteville to Buckhead when I was 9. After graduating from St Pius X High School, I attended University of North Carolina at Greensboro and was graduated with a BA in English. After a 5-year career in the publishing industry, I spent the next 26 years in Peachtree Corners where my husband and I homeschooled our sons. My husband worked as an electrical engineer and I dedicated myself to educating our sons. I decided to pursue my Real Estate license when my youngest began preparing to head to college. I honestly wondered if I could learn and retain new information and skills after so many years out of the “workforce”! I knew I wanted a meaningful way to spend my time and I wanted to be out and about our city and interacting with a variety of people, and I’d always had an interest in the real estate industry of Atlanta. I took an online pre-license class in 2020 and took the big real estate salesperson exam in January of 2021. A good friend who is a Realtor with Harry Norman, Realtors introduced me to her Broker, Diane Smith, and I walked out of that interview enamored with my new career! Diane was instrumental in helping me reenter the workforce and she continues to inspire me on a daily basis to be the best I can be. I will always be grateful for Diane’s leadership and training, and I credit much of my success to her unwavering support.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I was as surprised as anyone that I stepped into a new career at 54. I thought I would have a rough time adjusting to being back in the workforce after the 26 years I spent homeschooling my sons. But the opposite turned out to be true.
The skills I developed while leading my kids through their education have been the ones I rely on as a Real Estate professional on a daily basis. Skills like negotiation (ever try to get an energetic 8-year old to sit still for his math times-tables drill?), innovation (no PE Class available? I worked with our local YMCA to create a Homeschool PE Class and recruited local homeschoolers to participate!), research (my youngest son loved the high tech industry, so we created a year-long study with library books, films, physical science kits, and online exploration — he’s at GA Tech now, getting his degree in Computer Engineering) and positivity (to lead three boys, year after year, a positive demeanor is a necessity and I learned how to put that forward every single day!).
As a result of homeschooling my children, I have the negotiation skills to help my buyers get the repairs or concessions they need to make a home purchase feasible. I can come up with creative ways to reach out to friends and neighbors to make my services and skills known to them without being intrusive. I have the research skills to analyze statistics and determine the best way to position a home in its market. I am actively engaged in learning new license laws and staying educated about this ever-changing industry of Real Estate. I can shift pessimism to problem-solving; it’s remarkable how staying upbeat in every aspect of a transaction affects others. I was named company-wide Rookie of the Year for Volume Sold my first full year selling, and I’m gratified to be able to help people over the many hurdles that can crop up buying or selling a house.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I have a passion for helping people! As a result of my passion, I am an award-winning agent: I have been a member of Harry Norman’s elite Success Circle for the last 3 years and was in the Top 10 Producers of my Atlanta Perimeter office in 2023. I have been a Top Producer in the Atlanta Realtors Association in 2022 and 2023 and was named company-wide Rookie of the Year for Volume Sold at Harry Norman Realtors my first full year, 2022. In 2023 I was nominated for Atlanta Agent’s “Rookie of the Year Agent’s Choice” Award and as Modern Luxury Interiors Atlanta’s 2023 “Top Industry Newcomer”.
I love being part of the Harry Norman, Realtors organization because the company’s core values align with my own: Authenticity, Integrity, Rich Relationships, Professional Excellence, and Community Service. I serve on the Harry Norman, REALTORS® Impact Council. In this committee, we aim to make a positive impact on the local areas we serve each year.  We strive to create a better community through meaningful actions and partnerships through service and donations. I am also the president of my neighborhood Homeowners Association. We have over 700 homes in Peachtree Station, and our HOA hosts many community events throughout the year which provide a great opportunity for enriching friendships and connections among our residents.
I mainly work in Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, and Peachtree Corners, on the north side of I-285. However, I’ve sold homes in town and as far south as Trilith in Fayetteville, and as far north as Dawsonville, just off Lake Lanier. As a native Atlantan, I’m comfortable all around Metro Atlanta!
I am described by my Clients as a Realtor who makes the home-buying and -selling process smooth, stress-free, and even fun! I have an strong work ethic — I take my work very seriously, yet I purposefully bring a positive attitude to every situation. I form good relationships with my co-op agents from the very beginning of each transaction so that we are a team (not opponents!) working toward the same goal — to get both sides happily to the Closing Table. My extensive market knowledge and strong negotiation skills give my Clients a real advantage. I also have a network of trusted industry professionals, from mortgage lenders and attorneys, to home stagers, to home renovation experts, so my Clients are in good hands every step of the way.
I listen to my Clients from the beginning and I respect their financial and personal goals and work to find solutions for both.Whether helping buyers, sellers, or investors, I am the Realtor who’s ready to go above and beyond to help people achieve their dreams. I have a long list of happy Clients and glowing referrals, and many people have trusted me with one of their biggest life decisions. What a privilege that is!
