Rising Stars: Meet Trey Shaw of Conyers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trey Shaw

Hi Trey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I aspired to be a Professional Wrestler since I was 4 years old watching my first episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown. I was a very hyper-active kid in my childhood and I was felt very connected to the physically, athleticism , and overall spectacle display every Friday night as I sat and ate dinner at my favorite spider-man table. I became enamored by stars like Dave Batista, Bobby Lashley, Eddie Guerrero. Much to a point where throughout my entire life no matter what sport I’ve played or career I’ve looked to transition into, I’ve always known my path would lead me to becoming a Professional Wrestler. Now I’m 6 years into my career, consistently learning and being coachable in order to achieve my dream of my art being showcased on a grand scale

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just like with any career there are struggles. Some are in your control and some are not. Integrity is the key to this business and that’s something I’ve learned over time. I was a kid when I started so I had to grow in this business of Professional Wrestling. The road is tough, but I am unwavering in spirit.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Within my character is a version of me that no longer exists. A part of me that experienced trauma growing up as a young black man in America starving to be more than a cog in the machine for profit. Along my lifetime, the pain and trauma turned into silent rage and violence. Instead of holding onto those emotions in my personal life, I use those emotions to convey artistic expression in my wrestling, in the way I style my promos, the music that I choose. I aim to make the audience feel connected to the story.
