Hi Shamika, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been a lover of all things beauty. My fascination with the beauty industry began as a young girl. My passion lies in the artistry of hair, particularly wigs, hair extensions, and coloring. The transformative power of hair has always captivated me.
I started doing friends and family hair at the age 14. In July 2017 I became a certified Lash Artist. Later that year in December 2017 I became a licensed Lash Artist and Instructor. I decided in 2018 to become Certified PMU Artist. In 2022 I furthered my career and became a Licensed Cosmetologist.
The beauty industry allows me to combine my love for aesthetics with my desire to help others feel their best, making each person’s journey a unique and empowering experience with my brand Eyedentical Glam. Whether it is the versatility of wigs or the instant length and volume provided by hair extensions, I find joy in the intricate process of creating stunning looks.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This spring I decided to step out on faith and move to Atlanta with my daughter, the youngest of my 3 children. This of course came with a myriad of challenges having to rebrand my business and build my client base in a new market. The ebbs and flows of having a full calendar of business one week to no clients the next has been disheartening at times but my unwavering trust in God keeps me going. I am also trying to break into the TV and film industry which comes with its own set of obstacles between politics of the industry and being in the right place at the right time. Personally, this new phase of life has also caused me to lose friends and loved ones. However, I remain steadfast and live by the quote “When the going gets tough, the tough gets gone.”

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My most fondest childhood memories come from sitting in the beauty salon on Saturday’s with mom and aunt. Like a lot little black girls, the salon is where I got to see black women from all walks of life being their authentic selves. This is also where my interest in hair began, from asking questions about different products, tools, and techniques. I knew at a young age I’d be making a difference empowering women by creating beautiful and unique hairstyles for them.
