Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Selby
Hi Jade, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From my earliest of memories, I have always wanted to be in event planning and design but I never felt it was the right time.In 2022 ,I was working in medicine as a Family Nurse Practitioner expecting my first child with my husband and in one night my whole life changed. In an unforseen series of events my son was delivered stillborn. This taught me that life at any moment can change the world as you know it. Through my grief I decided it was time to create something beautiful. Soon after his passing I was able to get pregnant again and have a beautiful daughter. This was my driving force to breathe life into the Ellum Events. and Design The goal is to take something that may seem ordinary and make it as beautiful as possible. My words to my clients are always “we want to celebrate you.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I will say the road to starting has not been as smooth as I thought. Starting a business entails so many aspects that I underestimated. So many questions that must be fulfilled such as, Where to begin?how do we get out there? What if it does not work? How can we appeal to all audiences rather than just a target audience.
I am realizing that I cannot have all the answers to my questions and will find my footing along the way.

I am an event planner and designer. I am known for my attention to detail and the ability to take a clients vision and surpassing their expectations.
I would say what sets me aside from others is that I am client centered and use innovative methods to assure every event is unique because is invaluable.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One lesson I have learned when it comes to my business is that is was okay to be aware that my worth reflect my work.
