Conversations with N’zyia Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to N’zyia Miller

Hi N’Zyia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Okay so I’m Chosen aka Nunu, I’ve started doing photography at the age of 12. I started with Weddings and Engagement Photos for my family when i was just starting out! Honestly at the beginning i had no knowledge of photography, it was never a thought to be in my career path, I’m a dancer as well so dancing was kind of the main thing on my mind at the time but as i got older and learned more about photography it just became something i fell in love with! Later on down the line i became the manager for my high school’s football team and i took pictures for them as well as made some graphics. Overall i feel i still have a lot more to do as far as my photography career but I’m proud of how far i came and not giving up on something that makes not only me but other people happy as well!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, I think my biggest struggles along the way with not just photography but everything that I’m gifted in was motivation and rushing my process. I went through a rough patch in my life where I dealt with really bad depression and anxiety, Luckily I had my amazing Mom, Family, Friends and most importantly God to help get me through it. During that time I went through lack of motivation for things that would usually make me more than happy, So for a while I was really hard on myself felt like my work/craft wasn’t good enough to be recognized and I looked at other people who were stable and basically at the top and wondered why I wasn’t there yet, But one thing I learned is that your time will come it just takes a lot of hard work, dedication and self discipline.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Well not only am i a Photographer, I am also a Dancer, Graphic Designer, Photo Editor, I also rap and make content on TikTok and YouTube. I’m mostly known for photography but a little known with dancing as well! Like I mentioned before I’m most proud of how far I’ve came and me not giving up, basically trusting that my hard work will pay off one day. I love making others happy by making memories for them and capturing them doing something that they love. I think what sets me apart from others is my energy, my personality, my mindset and my maturity. Ever since a kid I always had the mindset of working for what you want and my mom instilled that into me as I was growing up. As far as my energy/personality I’m just a vibe to be around you get genuine love and support this way. I always try to be the person people can look up to and get motivation from especially for people who been through obstacles in life and just need someone who understands and can get motivation to keep pushing in life from if that makes sense.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Not only does my career and family matter to me most, I’d say what also matters to me most is making a name for myself not only with photography and dancing etc.. But with also being able to become an advocate for those who deal with Depression and anxiety, I’ve been there before and know how it feels to be surrounded by loved ones and still feel alone mentally, I’m so open about what I went through mentally because I’m a believer that someone may hear my story and be motivated to keep pushing to get to the light at the end of the tunnel. I know how it feels and I wouldn’t want to sit around knowing that my story could help others one day.
