Today we’d like to introduce you to Lavell Hewitt
Hi Lavell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in Hospice started back in 2006. I was hired as an office manager and from there my ability to cross train and learn different areas of the business propel me to learn how to read policies and state regulations. Of course, as things in life typically go I didn’t Know that I was being prepared to eventually one day on my own company in 2017. I had the opportunity to purchase a partnership into a small hospice company in North Georgia. Stayed there for five years and eventually sold my percentage and started Autumn View Hospice in 2020 currently Autumn View Hospice isvery successful and I am very pleased that I decided to start the company because I genuinely love helping our patients and our families navigate life during the last days.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Autumn View Hospice is very successful today however we didn’t get here without a few challenges. For starters we started the company June 20 20 and as we all know the pandemic hit and slow down a lot of the progress we were making and trying to help bridge the gap for those in need. But I’m glad to say that with the help of God and countless people on the journey we were able to continue and we’ve been in business for years now.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Autumn View Hospice?
We are a Hospice company that serves our community and 13 surrounding counties. Our goal is not to be the biggest company so we only admit around 30 to 35 patients at a time because we wanna make sure that our staff is able to give individualized care. We are also one of the only few companies in the state of Georgia where our medical Director actually goes out and sees every patient. We are pleased to provide that as a service to all of our patients and I know not many other companies can make that guarantee so that makes us very happy to serve the community in this Fashion
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I could not have done this without my two partners Sherry Smith and Eric Hamilton. They are the cogs in the wheel that make this thing really really move. I am so pleased to be a part of this collective and know that the three of us are uniquely align to continue doing great things. Secondly, I have to give credit to our team. Most of the people who work with us started with the company in 2020 and are still a part of the staff today. We are very pleased to have a dedicated staff that love serving the community and our patients the way we doand it shows in our five star reviews and all of our family interactions.
