Meet Jonathan Allen of Southwest Fulton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Allen

Hi Jonathan , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off making news packages for my school at Alabama A&M University. I would travel from school back to Atlanta on weekends and do gigs for celebrities and local artists. In my 3rd year of school I was hired by QC P (Pierre) of Quality Control Music to film music videos for his artists and also do personal photography for him. I’ve directed, assistant directed and produced music videos for artists such as Jeezy, Quavo, Moneybagg yo, Lil Baby, Latto and others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just like everyone else, I’ve had my ups and downs in my journey. One obstacle that I ran into was people boxing me into the run n gun music videos and club scene visuals. I was good at those things but I needed people to know that I could do more. And I got my opportunities to do more by putting in the work and trying new things.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a director, producer, videographer, and photographer. People would mostly know me from my work I did with IJU. We’ve done a lot of work in the industry that still makes noise to this day. I am most proud of the music video I directed for Jeezy and Dj Drama. “Ain’t Gone Hold Ya” on YouTube. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I am okay with change and have a good ability to adapt to adversity.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My family. Because at the end of the day, that’s all I have.
