Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Harper.
Hi Madison, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I graduated college in 2019 with a Sociology degree, and went to work for a law office shortly after. It was a great job, but it just wasn’t my passion. In January of 2021, I started my Hair Design apprenticeship and absolutely fell in love with what I did. After about a year and a half, I put a pause on my hair career and took a full time position in ministry! I never left the hair world fully, I always just did some on the side. I absolutely loved my job, but I began to really miss everything I loved about being a stylist. I took a stylist position at a salon, and did both jobs for a couple of months, until I eventually was ready to leave my ministry job and dive back into hair 100%. I’ve been a full time stylist for 3 months now, and I am in utter shock and amazement how blessed I am.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s not always been rainbows and sunshine. I’ve dealt with things like the drama of the hair world, competition, fear of failure, slower days… none of which were fierce enough to stop me. I’ve continued to push myself to never quit and I’m so glad I did. I have found a home at the most beautiful salon with some of the greatest women I’ve ever met, and I have the clientele of my dreams!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a hair stylist who specializes in lived-in color, with special mentions to tone on tone brunettes, and gray blending. I love doing anything and everything that makes my clients feel beautiful and confident! I am most proud of myself for never quitting and always pushing myself to learn more.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am an extroverted introvert. Don’t get me wrong, I can be a people person when I want to be, and I love talking to people in my chair, which is sometimes misleading and makes people think that I’m outgoing and extroverted 24/7. The truth is 95% of the time, I’d prefer to be at home in my PJ’s watching TV with my hubby.
