Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita R Peters
Hi Anita R, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been licensed since February 2000. Prior to entering into the industry I worked a 9-5 at a slacks manufacturing company. I stepped out on faith and enrolled in real estate school full time. I worked days and nights to master my craft, reading , researching and learning from my friend Adrienne Dowdy. My license was placed initially with the property management company that she worked at. I knew I didn’t want to manage property but did want to learn the ropes. I remained there for three years before I transferred to another brokerage. My end goal was to sell residential and commercial real estate. I remained at the second brokerage for about nine years and in 2012 opened my own brokerage.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road defintely hasn’t been smooth. You have to build clientele and win people’s trust in this industry. Fortunately for me I have life long clients that still use my services and refer me to their friends and family. The biggest challenge I have faced this far is being looked at as the underdog. I am very much educated in my career choice. Being a small, independently owned brokerage comes across sometimes as if the person lacks knowledge which defintely isn’t the case. I’m constantly looking for new opportunities and when they don’t come to me, I find a way to create them.
We’ve been impressed with Peters Realty Professionals , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the broker and owner of my own brokerage firm. I specialize in residential real estate but also assist clients with commercial real estate and their investment portfolios. I’m most proud of leaping out on faith, opening my own brokerage and trusting that God has me covered. When partnering with my firm sellers and buyers both can feel at ease, because I truly have their best interest at heart.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I do a lot of my own research and take the initiative to read and learn about topics or things that interest me. This is one of the reasons I’m well versed in the industry. I like to network with like minded people that have the same core values as myself. When looking for a mentor just know that that individual is investing time and time is valuable to them so expect to compensate them accordingly. A truly good mentor can help a person kick off their career.
