Meet Kate Butry of Energy Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Butry.

Hi Kate, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have reached my current position through a blend of persistence and effort. After graduating college in Chicago, I started off in the commercial side of the industry working under a well known architect which I enjoyed very much; however, wanted a closer and more personal connection to the client which lead me to start my own business in residential design. I then found my way to Naples, FL where specializing in high end residential design landed me clients nationwide including Naples, Chicago and Scottsdale, Arizona.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life as an entrepreneur certainly has its struggles and one of my biggest challenges early on was building a consistent stream of clients. I quickly learned a recipe for success is a combination of networking and a positive attitude. The more I put myself out there, the more clients seemed to find their way to me. Maintaining a positive attitude is key to building strong client relationships and attracting new opportunities.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I came up with the name Energy Design for my business because I believe our energy, and environment have a strong impact on our overall wellbeing. Our home’s energy should mirror the kind of person we aspire to be in the world. Energy Design helps create beautiful and organized home environments for our clients which tends to have a ripple effect on their lives and that is what I am most proud of with my brand.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned throughout my journey is that gratitude is a powerful driver of success in business. I recognize the value in every day, every client, even every mistake and I am grateful for each one of them.
