Rising Stars: Meet Dianne Cassara of Loganville, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dianne Cassara

Hi Dianne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved horses and dreamed of a farm of my own since I was a child. That reality finally happened in 1998 when we moved to Loganville GA. I decided to call our farm “Double Durango Farm” which was decided on from a pair of my Durango cowboy boots. Double meaning myself and my spouse John, who I have to say puts up with me and all of my crazy ideas and animals. I never said anything about having goats or a goat farm! So I tell people all the time I am a horse person gone goat! I never imagined having a herd of miniature goats and offering our farm for events, goat yoga, tours and photo shoots but here I am! We have been here now for 27 years and there has been a lot of blood, sweat and tears getting here but it was so worth it. I love to build wood items and structures and have made many of the barns and sheds around the property and future plans include building a Western town and more backdrops for photo shoots and farm tours.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road here was not all smooth by any means! We could barely afford the farm in 1998 but somehow God found a way. We did not have money to build a barn and my Aunt Bobby helped contribute so we could build one. We had to clear 5 acres full of trees, 150 pine tree stumps were grinded down and 3 board fencing and posts installed. We had no idea how much work that it was going to take to make a pasture with grass for the horses and livestock. We did not own a tractor and everything we did was by hand.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When I was younger I almost decided to go into graphic arts. I love being creative and challenging myself. I have a love for making items out of wood and making metal art. I often will tear out a picture from a magazine or print off from images and make whatever it is. I am most proud of landscaping projects over the years. Turning ugly areas outside into little masterpieces that are eye appealing. I am in my comfort zone with a hammer and saw in my hand creating. I make a little of everything, including buckboard wagons, goat milking stands, raised garden beds, pallet walls, rolling bars and more. My favorite color is rust! There is something unique about vintage and old school and the stories they can tell from the past. I have lots of rusted metal roofing that came off a 100 year old barn that has been made into doors, windows and walls.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We offer our farm for photo shoot sessions, music video’s and would like to do more of this. We have had many Atlanta rappers and artists come here for music video’s and photo shoots. We also offer private farm tours by appointment for anyone that loves goats, wants to learn more about goats or just to host events for any occasion. We use all money received from the events and sessions to help offset the cost of goat feed and hay to feed our large goat herd. Goat Yoga events are year round, rain or shine since we have a large yoga barn and we offer private and public events. For more information on events or tours emailing is the best way to reach out. Our website for the farm is www.doubledurangofarm.com and for the goat yoga it is www.goatyogageorgia.com
