Rising Stars: Meet Camila Marin of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camila Marin

Hi Camila, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for children and the different forms of existence have led me to my current career in neurophysiology at a local Children’s Hospital. It’s been an extremely fulfilling career filled with love, gratitude, and heavy life lessons.
From a young age I always knew that my purpose in life would be a hands on experience in the healing of others. I have enjoyed every step to get to where I am today including the lessons I once called “failures”.

I started Love Your Shadows in 2021 after receiving my reiki certification from a master in Colombia with the hope of expanding my support to include more services and to a broader audience. I have devoted my time and effort to create a safe space for my clients to explore their shadows. Since then, I have met some wonderful people that might have started as clients but are now part of a community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life is truly a game. The transition from living life in survival mode to creative mode is one that is not easy to make. This is exactly why I began providing my services.

Living intentionally can be difficult for so many of us who grew up in a stressful environment. My biggest obstacle has always been my own self-doubt. Thinking that I am not enough kept me and my abilities at a stand still. My “rational” mind kept making excuses for my fear by reminding me that everything I did was so that I could make it another day alive, instead of allowing myself the opportunity to live life the way we are meant to: by enjoying even the most mundane aspects of it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have worked in a clinical setting with kids and adults with Autism for nearly a decade. I am currently part of the neurophysiology team at a hospital where I conduct nerve conduction studies and brain imaging. This is something that I am very passionate about, and has illuminated my path to my personal business.
My holistic view on health is what lead me to start Love Your Shadows. Although holistic living is not always emphasized in our medical system, it is something that I advocate for all. Here is where I share some services that have helped me in my own healing such as Reiki and Tameana.
I also enjoying cooking and creating recipes as a form of meditation which has found a platform of its own. I have worked with some of my favorite brands including Vital Farms eggs and butter. Sharing a meal with a loved one, or even a stranger is a great way to enforce and create a connection.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Accept failure. I know it is scary to be vulnerable, but someone out there is looking for something only you can provide. Accept criticism and own up to your mistakes, this will only make you stronger and more powerful.
Now don’t forget that you do not have to be everybody’s cup of tea, find your niche, find your people and take pride in your accomplishments. We are so lucky to live in a world where we can all help one another be the best versions of ourselves, don’t lose sight of your own light.
