Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Green
Hi Briana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started doing makeup back in 2011, I was a freshman in college, 18 years old and had a thing for makeup. I watched so many YouTube tutorials in my apartment and started doing my makeup for parties and other girls started to notice and wanted me to do theirs for all the upcoming parties as well! I ended up not going back to college after that first year because I just was not school material, I tried it just to say that I did, but I hated it! So I sat out a year and just worked but at the beginning of 2013, I enrolled in cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell cosmetology school back in Arkansas where I am from originally. I knew tv/film was my ultimate goal and I said if I was going to bet it all on makeup, I wanted to go all the way and I did! I graduated Paul Mitchell in December of 2013, the day after graduation, I flew to Atlanta to do makeup for a Super Bowl commercial that was sponsored by Doritos, one of the best things I’ve done to date. The following week, the day after Christmas I decided to step out on Faith and move to Georgia and get further in my career and I’ve done just that! I found a friend, and she is literally Gods connecter. lol. We are besties now but she knew so many prominent people here in Atlanta and she put me in contact with another lady whose cousin owns the agency for makeup/hair artist who does all love and hip hop and the housewives shows and once I joined the agency, the rest was history. God truly does make your path plain when you are doing what you are called to do!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely was a struggle. Coming to Atlanta with only two family members living here, I didn’t know anyone in the industry. I was starting from scratch. Instagram had just became a thing so posting constantly and going to different networking events when I could was my go to for awhile until I met the right people. Because for awhile, a lot of other makeup artist I would meet were true gate keepers
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a makeup artist from Little Rock, AR who specializes in soft and bridal glam. What sets me apart from other artist is, the experience I give to my clients. We genuinely have fun and often times have amazing therapeutic conversations that is good for the soul!
I am most proud of my work on Love and Hip Hop after show, where I did makeup on Tammy Rivera; that was my first time working on set. I was so nervous, but everyone was so sweet and took it easy on me lol.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the true, authentic blackness of Atlanta! Everybody black can truly thrive here and its great to witness and be apart of.
what I lease like about Atlanta is the traffic! I’m from Little Rock, we do not have traffic like this lol.
