Inspiring Conversations with Aidee Meza of Authentic Skin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aidee Meza

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I, Aidee, am the founder of Authentic Skin.

Growing up, at a young age, I worked in a variety of job fields. Leading me into no job fulfilling me, nor could I find my passion. In my late teens, I knew deep in my heart that I had more to offer and the potential to strive for greatness.

I graduated with my A.S. and paused college. I then stumbled across lash extensions, and my esthetics career began. I discovered an awe in the use of my hands to create luxury art and offer high-end comfort to others through beauty.

The name Authentic Skin was born from a school project in esthetician school. I used the letter “A” as inspiration, stemming from the “A” in my first name. We brainstormed words like natural, raw, real, and organic, and so on. From there, I was led to the word “authentic.”

Authentic Skin is a first-generation, Latina-owned business that strives not only to provide luxury beauty services but also to foster authentic connections with everyone we serve. Our goal is to leave a meaningful imprint on the lives of those we encounter.

I, Aidee, am now back in college for Social Work. My future aim is to become an instructor to train and educate others in the field of esthetics. By combining esthetics with social work, the primary focus of Authentic Skin will be to create an organization or aid program for women of color, young women, single mothers, individuals experiencing homelessness, former addicts, and those previously incarcerated.

This initiative will help them pursue a career in esthetics, equipping them with the skills needed to become successful business owners one day.

All glory to my Heavenly Father,
My best friend, Jesus,
And my guide, the Holy Spirit.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In my rawness, it has not been a smooth road. Partially yes, due to my faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

In the very beginning, I was very scared to even begin lashing. Fear and overthinking were my enemies. I was fearful what if it didn’t go well, what if nobody came to me as clients, ect. So many what ifs.

After taking the lash extensions course, I truly enjoyed it and it sparked the next step; to enter Esthetician school.

Those who may or may not know, Esthetician school is very expensive. I thankfully was blessed by God to have the finances sitting in the bank that I had received a year before starting Esthetician school due to a car accident. Which paid my schooling in full. Had that incident not occurred, I would have struggled immensely to pay for school and or delayed my journey.

Comparison also attempted to discourage me and stop me when I began my journey in Esthetics. I am very hard on myself; as I am a perfectionist my nature. However, I have learned with God to be patient and compassionate towards myself as I grow and learn in my career, as well as business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Authentic Skin ?
At Authentic Skin, we are dedicated to enhancing client’s natural beauty with our luxurious high-end beauty services.

We offer a variety of beauty services for all genders, races, and ethnic backgrounds. Ranging from lash extensions, lash lifts, brow lamination, brow stain dye, facials ect.

I, Aidee, am specialized and most known for lashing, due to it being the very first beauty service I learned and continue to master.

What sets me apart, and correlates to what I am most proud of brand wise is the rawness and authenticity I offer to my clients and all I come across. At Authentic Skin, the aim is not to simply offer beauty services, but to create authentic connections with all.

Authentic Skin offers a haven where clients feel safe, comfortable, and can open themselves to us; leaving their appointment with love, hope and joy. While at the same time leaving with a touch of enhanced beauty.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is to create an impact. An impact on the lives of others and to be a light. The light of Jesus Christ inside me. Not religion, but in relationship with Jesus; and thankfully I can and will touch many lives through Authentic Skin.

It matters to me to create an impact due to the reason that all I have achieved and continue to achieve, as well as building Authentic Skin from scratch as a Hispanic and a First-generation; I know there are many women of all ages who have the potential and are able to achieve the same in their desires.

My impact is to inspire others through my story, my struggles, my journey, and my faith in Jesus who is the backbone of Authentic Skin.
