Community Highlights: Meet Brad Ewing of Ewing Consulting, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Ewing

Hi Brad, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born with a gift that’s both blessed and haunted me throughout my life: a near-limitless imagination coupled with an innate need to write. As often as I tried to leave this gift behind, writing has never left me. Growing up in Nashville, Tennessee, I devoured books and developed an insatiable appetite for research and learning.

My path took an unexpected turn during my time as an English major at Fisk University. While I’d enrolled to master the craft of writing, I discovered a surprising talent for web programming and graphic design. The Internet was this new, exciting frontier, and I made the bold decision to drop out and pursue it. This led to my first professional role in IT, working for Nashville’s Metropolitan government – the Clerk’s Office, City Council, and Mayor’s Office during Mayor Phil Bredesen’s administration.

My career in technology flourished at Ingram Book Group for three years, but Silicon Valley’s siren call proved irresistible. In California, I honed my skills as a Web Developer and Java Software Engineer. When I eventually returned to Nashville, I brought that expertise to an impressive roster of clients including Universal Music Group, Mercury Records, MCA Records, and even NASA. My work also extended to the State of Tennessee Attorney General’s Office, among others.
My adventures haven’t been limited to the professional sphere – life has taken me across the globe, from the technological hubs of Japan to the historic streets of Belgium and Germany, from the Netherlands to the Philippines, and even to the rugged frontier of Alaska. Each destination has added layers to my perspective and depth to my writing.

Today, I’m more than just a tech professional. I’m a teacher, aspiring filmmaker, and dedicated philanthropist who believes in giving back through volunteer work with local community charities. You might find me buried in ancient history texts one day and engrossed in manga the next. I’m an unabashed nerd who finds joy in everything from classic cartoons to astronomy, from comic books to philosophical treatises.
But through all these adventures and career turns, writing has remained my constant companion. Now, I’m working toward my ultimate goal: becoming a full-time professional writer. It feels like coming full circle – returning to that first love that’s been waiting patiently all along.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No it has not. I struggled with a mountain of issues — fear of failure, raising a family as a single father, divorce, alcoholism, and divorce again… exactly in that order. But being able to meditate, pray, reflect, and write about these issues were not only therapeutic, but it has given me greater dimension into helping to understand the hearts of others.

Everyone is fighting a battle of some kind or another.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was an adventurous and inquisitive kid, wanting to know all of the answers. Wanting to know what the truth is of this world. Most of my influences to music, reading, drawing, and technology were due to my parents. I was always into sports and kind of kept to myself as a kid for the most part.
