Life & Work with Maira De Leon of North of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maira De Leon

Hi Maira, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story with Good Studio Co. LLC:

My passion for photography and videography started at a young age. Around 15, I began exploring the world through the lens of my first camera. As a Mexican-American born and raised in Georgia, I grew up surrounded by the rich culture and traditions of my Mexican heritage. My family was always close-knit, creating experiences that brought us together—whether through travel, sharing food, telling stories, dancing, or playing music. I felt a deep desire to capture those moments through photos and videos.

I’ve always been the creative one in my family, and now, at 36, I look back with a smile. I’m proud of how far my creativity has taken me and the person it has helped me become.

As a daughter of immigrants, I always had an innate understanding of my family’s struggles—even though it was rarely spoken about directly. When we would travel to Mexico to visit relatives, I took on the role of documenting our experiences through photos and videos. It became a way for me to connect my family in the U.S. to those across the border. The joy I felt when sharing my footage with loved ones who couldn’t make the trip is something I’ll always remember and hold dear to my heart.

In particular, the videos and photos I took of my grandfather on my mother’s side—who passed away in 2012—became invaluable. My mom wasn’t able to say goodbye in person due to her immigration status at the time, so those photos and videos were all she had to remember him by. It’s true what they say: you don’t fully appreciate the value of photographs until they’re all you have left to hold onto.

In 2015, I was introduced to the wedding industry while interning at a resort during my studies in Marketing and Design at the University of North Georgia. My role involved capturing weddings at the resort and promoting them through social media, websites, and print. It was here that I got the idea to start my own wedding photography business. I quickly dreamed up a business idea, created a logo, a branding concept and hit the ground running with my new business.

I did not have much luck at the beginning. As with most ventures, the beginning was slow, and the obstacles were many. But with perseverance, consistency and time, things slowly started to pick up. It wasn’t until life pushed me to go full-time that I hit my first $100K in a single year. Fast forward to today, this and my other businesses have brought me financial security, balance, freedom, and the ability to invest time and resources to help others with their own entrepreneurship journeys. With my coaching business, I am striving to do just that; help women entrepreneurs achieve work-life balance, financial freedom, and genuine fulfillment in their personal and professional lives.

I hope I can inspire young Hispanics or minorities in this country who may or may not have immigrant parents… but, know the struggle and still dare to dream big– I hope they know that one day, they’ll be able to reach those dreams and beyond.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many minority-owned businesses in this country, the journey hasn’t been easy. But when you pour your time, effort, and heart into your passions, the rewards are far beyond worth it. Along the way, I faced countless challenges—discrimination, lack of support, racism, funding issues, self-doubt, rejection, and the denial of opportunities. But none of these obstacles stopped me from achieving my goals. Instead, I viewed each challenge as an opportunity for growth, evolution, and a chance to advance both personally and professionally.

I’ve manifested everything I’ve built in my business—and then some. However, I want to make this very clear: financial success and money aren’t my greatest accomplishments. For me, it’s about valuing time, freedom, spirituality, connection, impact, and fulfilling my soul’s purpose. To achieve these things, all it takes is a shift in mindset and a deep connection between mind, body, spirit, and soul.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently a multi-business owner, traveling content creator, artist, spiritual business coach and community leader. As a work-from-anywhere entrepreneur, I spend half of my time away, while the other half is dedicated to being hands-on with whatever project I’m committed to here in my home state of Georgia.

I am most proud of the internal growth and personal development strides I’ve made along this journey. I feel a deep calling to help women entrepreneurs turn their passions into thriving businesses, empowering them to create wealth, freedom, and fulfillment in their lives.

I am excited to witness God’s hand in Enliven Society and the many impactful projects that will be birthed from this incredible, trailblazing community!

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck, I believe in miraculous synchronicities. As strange as that may sound to some, I believe in spiritual guides/angels, God, the universe, and the healing magic of mother Earth. I believe that each of us has a unique purpose in this lifetime. We are given the gift of free will, and with that comes the power to choose between good and evil, light and darkness. Our choices shape our reality, and our mindset ultimately determines the course of our lives.

We are magnetic beings, constantly attracting what we put out into the world. I truly believe that when we operate from a place of love, compassion, and empathy, the universe responds with blessings, aligned synchronicities, and an abundance of unwavering love.

So, it’s not about luck– it’s about being intentional with our energy and trusting that the universe will mirror the vibrations we emit. When we align with our highest selves, that’s when the magic unravels and begins to change our entire lives.
