Rising Stars: Meet Ray Barlow of The Heart of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Barlow

Hi Ray, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started being a man of the community and all around humanitarian back in 2017 when I decided to help an old friend pass out some pizza in hurt park Atlanta with more of her friends. When I did it with her I felt a feeling I never felt. Giving and seeing the people we help being so appreciative. I wanted to do it agian and just never stopped. Then started meeting many great people in the mix. I still love it the same way to this day every time. As I was doing things illegitimately feeding those in possible need, another good friend suggested that I establish a nonprofit organization. In 2021 I legitimized things. Now I’ve been able to partner up with many great small businesses and I have furthered things to even public speak to children at different schools around Atlanta.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, anything continually done doesn’t go so smooth all the time in my opinion. Hence the saying ,” you gotta love it,” really hit home for me through many of my obstacles of experiences. I’ve encountered shortage of resources, last minute partners deciding not to help, and even had my car stolen 3 different times a day just before my actual events(every time around thanksgiving ironically). One of those times I even left goods I had mistakenly left in the car and they were stolen alone with the car. Yet, I don’t let things deter my purpose. It’s a purpose of mine. It’s what I came to the conclusion of. Helping and also being an example for my community, social media, and many people I have no clue that I am inspiring. Basically I’m a positively stubborn person. Once I have my mind set on things I don’t let anything stop me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Besides having a nonprofit organization feeding those in possible need of hot meals every last Sunday of the month I also became an author. I’ve started writing motivational books and journals of personal development for children and adults. Another aspect that helps me to extend my spreading of positivity to the world. I also am a boxer which helps me step into platforms to spread even more positivity with the exposure. I’m most proud of being an everyday example to people that come from regular pay check to pay check living, single parent house holds, and even a statistic of being incarcerated and making a complete 180 degree turn in life. Also making my mother proud and honoring her and my family’s name. What sets me apart from others is that I’m always myself in any of the many rooms I step in. I don’t ever fake who I am or put on a mask. I do this respectfully, acceptably, and intellectually. I’m truly a one of one type of guy. Ask anyone.
