“I have over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry, starting my journey in Beverly Hills with esteemed hair companies, where I played a significant role in launching innovative lines of extensions and wigs. My passion for beauty and innovation deepened during my time at Los Angeles, where i started my journey with my own skin at Kate Sommerville
Upon relocating to Atlanta, I quickly realized that working from home was not fulfilling, prompting me to pursue my dream of becoming a licensed esthetician. During my studies, I seized the opportunity to become one of the first estheticians in Georgia to be laser-certified, which led to my first role in laser hair removal.
After gaining valuable experience in various establishments, I decided to open my own business. The onset of COVID-19 provided a unique opportunity to launch and adapt my services, allowing me to create a tailored experience for clients in a challenging time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Embarking on my journey to become an aesthetician was not just about skincare techniques or mastering beauty treatments; it was about resilience, dedication, and personal growth. Like many dreams, my path was scattered with obstacles that tested my commitment and passion for this field.
From the beginning, I was met with intense competition and the pressure to excel. Although I had a deep love for skincare, the rigorous training and demanding coursework challenged my endurance. I spent a lot of time studying anatomy, skin types, and product ingredients, often feeling overwhelmed. Balancing this with practical, hands-on training in a salon environment introduced new anxieties. Every day I faced the fear of not being good enough, doubting my skills while watching my peers flourish.
The journey was also emotionally taxing. I experienced setbacks, from struggling to build a clientele to facing client rejection. These moments stung, yet they were crucial in shaping my character. I learned to embrace criticism, transforming it into constructive feedback that fueled my growth. Each hurdle reinforced my determination to succeed, reminding me that every great aesthetician has faced their challenges.
Moreover, the beauty industry is constantly evolving, making it essential to stay updated with new trends and techniques. This relentless need for knowledge often felt daunting, but it also ignited my curiosity. Attending workshops, webinars, and networking with fellow aestheticians became not just a necessity, but a passion.
