Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Peeler & Joshua Davis See Above 🙂
Hi Haley Peeler & Joshua Davis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Davis Campbell Theatrics was founded in 2024 based on a need we saw for a performing arts organization that placed its students as the core of its focus and inspiration. Our students are the building blocks for the future of performing arts, and we want to make sure they have a firm foundation. This foundation comes through a mix of intentional discipline and unconditional love. We are always striving for our students to know that their presence in a room makes a difference. We want to build a future of performing artists that lift up their community.
Thanks to Dance It Off and DanceFlix Academy, we’ve been been able to bring this new outlook on performing arts education to the Sandy Springs and Suwanee areas. We have built a community of young performers who are as equally talented as they are kind, and who work together as an ensemble to make every performance happen. It is truly incredible what happens on the stage when your performers see themselves as part of a bigger picture and want to pave a path of unity through the arts, not just individuality.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Performing arts present many challenges — namely finding performance venues and having flexibility to change plans at the drop of a hat. Our performers have had to be flexible in re-blocking our shows the day of when a stage is smaller than we planned, or reblocking for a new stage entirely when plans fall through.
The beautiful thing about theatre is that it is live — every mistake is woven into the magic of the story being told, and our kids are incredible at bringing all of the moving pieces together to make magic!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We have four incredible performing arts troupes:
1. Sandy Springs Teen Academy for 8th – 12th graders
2. Sandy Springs Jr. Academy for 3rd – 7th graders
3. Suwanee Academy for 3rd – 12th
Who all work towards two full length performances per year (one in the fall and one in the spring)
& 4. A competition troupe that just took home Best In Ensemble and Outstanding Performance By An Individual at the Junior Theatre Festival. They will soon travel to Orlando for the National Performing Arts Festival and then to New York to perform on Broadway for the cast of Frozen on Broadway.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
The road to building a performing arts studio is not paved alone. We have been so blessed to have the support of incredible parents and community members. In everything we do, we strive to embolden our community to show up and show out! Each of our rehearsals incorporates affirmations – Dedicated, Capable, Together. These three words remind us of who we are at our core and the limitless possibilities when we strive towards a goal together.
