Check Out Patrice Goings’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrice Goings

Hi Patrice, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started as a passion project rooted in my love of creativity and natural skincare . I was drawn to handcrafted products that nourish the skin without unnecessary chemicals, so I decided to experiment with making my own soaps. What started as a creative outlet quickly turned into something bigger when friends and family fell in love with my creations.

Over time, I refined my recipes, focusing on high-quality ingredients like olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and natural clays. I introduced signature collections, including seasonal soaps, fan-inspired designs, and therapeutic bars infused with essential oils. Each soap tells a story, whether it’s inspired by nature, personal experiences, or even pop culture.

As my business Tricey’s Treasures grew, I expanded beyond soaps to include body oils, sugar scrubs, and subscription services, ensuring my customers have a full skincare experience. Along the way, I’ve participated in markets, collaborated with organizations, and even hosted fun events with other small business owners to build community around my brand.

My journey has been filled with learning, creativity, and connection. Today, Tricey’s Treasures is more than just a soap business—it’s a labor of love that brings a touch of luxury to everyday self-care.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting Tricey’s Treasures was anything but a smooth road, but every challenge has been a learning experience that helped shape my business into what it is today. Launching a new business in 2020 came with a lot of uncertainty—people were adjusting to a new way of life, and I had to figure out how to get my products in front of customers during a time when in-person shopping was limited. It was a leap of faith, but I believed in my vision and kept pushing forward.

One of the biggest challenges has been keeping up with trends while staying true to my brand. The skincare and beauty industry is constantly evolving, and I’ve had to stay ahead by learning new techniques, experimenting with different formulations, and finding ways to make my soaps both visually appealing and beneficial for the skin. Whether it’s incorporating natural colorants, essential oil blends, or seasonal fragrances, I’m always looking for ways to elevate my craft.

Another struggle has been adjusting to customer needs. What works one season might not be as popular the next, so I’ve learned to listen closely to feedback and adapt. From launching soap subscriptions to creating fan-inspired collections and specialty bars like Give Me Life and Enchanting Allure, every decision has been made with my customers in mind.

Despite the obstacles, the journey has been rewarding. Seeing my products bring joy to people and knowing that I’ve built something from the ground up keeps me motivated. The challenges have only made me stronger, and I’m excited for what’s ahead!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

At the heart of my creativity is passion—passion for craftsmanship, for learning, and for connecting with my customers. Every bar of soap is made with care, and that personal touch is what makes Tricey’s Treasures stand out.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice for anyone starting a soap business is to do your research and have fun while doing it! Soapmaking is both a science and an art, so understanding ingredients, techniques, and safety measures is essential. But beyond that, don’t be afraid to experiment, get creative, and enjoy the process—your passion will shine through in your products.

One thing I wish I knew when I started was the importance of preparing for seasonal batches. In the beginning, I had no idea that I could create multiple soap collections and release them at limited times throughout the year. I was just making soap as I went, without a real strategy for seasonality. Now, I plan ahead, designing special soaps for different seasons, holidays, and even themed collections, which has made a huge difference in keeping my offerings fresh and exciting for customers.

Another key lesson is to stay flexible and open to learning. Trends change, customer preferences evolve, and there’s always something new to discover. The more you embrace growth and adaptability, the more successful you’ll be in the long run. Most importantly, believe in yourself and your craft—building a business takes time, but if you stay consistent and passionate, it’s worth every challenge!
