Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Beckford
Hi Peter , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got to where I am today because of my love for residential real estate that began as a child. Growing up in South Miami, FL I distinctly remember driving through affluent areas like Old Culter, Pinecrest, and Coconut Grove and thinking, “my neighborhood doesn’t look like that”.
But I admired the beauty of those areas and it became a goal of mine to hopefully one day experience or be involved with real estate that reflected that feeling. As I grew older, other interests prevailed and I went to school to become a pharmacist at Howard University. After graduation, I completed a residency and then immediately started investing in real estate in metro Atlanta. At first, I wasn’t involved in residential sales but after my wife suggested I get a license because, “all I did was look at homes online” it clicked in my mind that this is something I should persue. Not just for potential monetary gain but because I had a genuine appreciation for real estate on all levels including the opportunity to help people achieve generational wealth through home ownership.
At the time, I worked overnight and the latter portion of my shift was very slow which gave me the opportunity to study for my license. I already had a successful career in pharmacy but my heart was in real estate. I prayed and asked God to have his will be done. A couple months later I finished the online course and passed the state licensing exam on my first try and I was off to the races. It took a couple years to transition from full time pharmacist to full time real estate agent but after being recognized several years in a row as a top producer by the Atlanta Realtors Association along with several other accolades, here I am today thriving as a real estate agent and advisor in metro Atlanta.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. I wasn’t sure it was the right move. I am passionate about real estate but I had such a steady career in heathcare. Friends and colleagues were questioning if that was the best move for me and my family. Even my wife at first was skeptical. As a result, I had to do both at first until my real estate business picked up. Once it did, there was no turning back.

What’s most important to me is that my client’s are happy and treated with love, empathy, and respect along the way of their real estate pursuits.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I did. In moments of crisis I’ve learned to step back and analyze the situation and pivot as necessary. As an example, during Covid, showings on listings were stopped due to the potential risk of exposure. That led to an increased desire for virtual showings which up until that moment wasn’t done that frequently. During Covid however it became very common and for many situations was the solution to getting the listed home seen and under contract.
