Today we’d like to introduce you to Pingyu (Layla) Zhan
Hi Layla, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved art and design. I started with a degree in Visual Communication Design and later pursued my Master’s in Graphic Design. Along the way, I explored different areas—branding, packaging, UI/UX—through internships and freelance projects. Each experience helped me grow and refine my style. Now, I’m working as a graphic designer, creating visual assets for brands. It’s been a journey of learning, experimenting, and pushing my creativity, and I’m excited for what’s next!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not! There were moments of self-doubt, especially when I compared myself to others. Deadlines were tough, and balancing creativity with practicality wasn’t always easy. But each challenge pushed me to grow and find my own voice as a designer. Looking back, those struggles were all part of the process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a graphic designer focusing on branding, packaging, and UI/UX. A lot of my work involves creating visual assets that help brands stand out, whether through packaging designs, digital experiences, or marketing visuals.
I’ve worked on a variety of projects, from corporate branding to e-commerce visuals. I love exploring different styles and always push myself to create something fresh and meaningful.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I’ve always been a curious and creative person. As a kid, I loved drawing, making crafts, and paying attention to small details in everyday things. I wasn’t the most outgoing, but I enjoyed spending time creating and figuring things out on my own.
I was also really drawn to anything visual—whether it was packaging, posters, or even handwriting styles. Over time, I got into photography, calligraphy, and digital design, and that’s when I realized how much I loved using visuals to tell a story. Looking back, it all makes sense that I ended up in design.
