Inspiring Conversations with Biubiu Xu of Panda Fest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Biubiu Xu

Hi BiuBiu, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2016, while I was still a student, I started my own blog, where I shared daily recommendations on food, drinks, and entertainment in New York. Through this, I got to know many restaurant owners and built my first group of followers.

By 2018, I decided to create my own pop-up exhibition, which was a booming trend at the time. That’s how The Egg House was born—the world’s first immersive exhibition themed around eggs. We were fortunate to expand from New York to Shanghai, Los Angeles, and Hong Kong. However, with the arrival of COVID, this venture had to come to a halt.

Afterward, I wanted to combine my love for food with my expertise in pop-up experiences, which led to the idea of a food festival. I spent two years in New York refining my team and testing the market, and that’s how Panda Fest was born. Now, we are incredibly excited to bring Panda Fest to cities across the U.S., beginning with Atlanta!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were many challenges—for example, in the beginning, it was difficult to gain the trust of vendors, and securing venues was also a struggle. However, as long as we build a strong brand and attract enough foot traffic, these challenges naturally resolve over time.

However, outdoor events are always affected by the weather. During such times, both the vendors and our team tend to feel anxious. However, we choose to only focus on the things we can control.

We’ve been impressed with Panda Fest, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the founder and curator of Panda Fest. Panda Fest is one of the biggest outdoor Asian food festivals in the U.S. that brings together immersive experiences, delicious tastings, market fairs, curated vendors, and a vibrant community. We specialize in creating high-energy, pop-up-style events that showcase diverse food offerings, interactive installations, art, cultural traditions, and entertainment. Known for our unique branding, large-scale activations, and engaging social presence, we focus on delivering unforgettable experiences that merge food, creativity, and community. At Panda Fest, we plan to decorate the festival with a lot of Panda decorations, from inflatables and Panda Dough Figurines to Panda Face Painting and Panda-themed food.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Be a doer, not a talker.
