Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Dorsey
Hi Dominique, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a camera operator at a news station and decided one day to buy a camera of my own which was a DSLR. It began as a hobby and then people would ask if I could do film work for them and it gradually became a business
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a few obstacles as far as pouring into my business while also working a full time job. I would like to be more intentional with promoting myself
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work as a camera operator and drone pilot at a local news station. I am also a freelance photographer and videographer. I’m proud of the fact that I am a self starter and mostly everything I have learned has been from YouTube University lol and a bit of trial and error. I have seen myself grow so much just looking at my work over the years.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
My favorite app would have to be YouTube because I’ve learned so much about film on there from tutorials and other creatives
