Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle P Simmons
Hi Michelle P, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey in real estate began in 2004 when I had the opportunity to become a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with Home Owners Loan, a mortgage lending company in Marietta, GA. This role opened the door to a new and exciting industry where I could help people achieve their dreams of homeownership.
Driven by ambition and a desire to create my own path, I branched off to open my own net branch office with Apex Mortgage. From that moment until 2010, I dedicated myself to growing my business and assisting countless clients in securing financing for their homes. However, when the financial crash happened, the industry experienced a major shift. At that time, I found myself leaning more on corporate America and ultimately transitioned back into that space.
Despite stepping away from real estate for a period, my passion for the industry never faded. In 2018, I decided to return, initially focusing again on the lending side. During this time, I met my mentor, who introduced me to an incredible opportunity to sell real estate in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. This experience reignited my passion for helping people find their dream homes.
With the support and encouragement of my husband and mentor, I took the next big step in my career—I pursued my real estate license in the United States. That decision has led me to where I am today, fully committed to serving my clients and making homeownership a reality for so many.
My passion has always been people—serving them, guiding them, and helping them achieve one of life’s most significant milestones: owning a home. Real estate is more than a career for me; it is my calling. Whether assisting first-time homebuyers, investors, or families looking to upgrade, my mission is to make the process seamless, rewarding, and fulfilling.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I first stepped into the world of real estate, I was filled with excitement, passion, and an unshakable belief that my circle—friends, family, the people I had supported countless times—would rally behind me. I had visions of them being my first clients, my biggest cheerleaders, the ones who would spread the word and help me grow. But life has a way of shaking your expectations, forcing you to learn hard lessons about loyalty, resilience, and the true meaning of support.
I quickly discovered that the people I thought would be there weren’t. Calls went unanswered. Messages were seen but never responded to. The same people who once asked for my advice, my time, my presence, suddenly forgot I existed when I needed them. They would rather work with a stranger, doubting my expertise before even giving me a chance. Some even asked for discounts, as if my time and effort were negotiable, while they paid full price elsewhere. The silence, the avoidance—it stung.
But here’s the beauty of this journey. Where one door closed, another—many others—opened. Strangers, people I had never met before, believed in me. They trusted me with one of the most significant decisions of their lives. They referred me to their family and friends. They cheered for me in ways I never expected. The kindness and belief from people who owed me nothing became the very foundation of my success.
This business is not for the weak. It will test you. It will make you question your worth. It will push you into moments of doubt and frustration. But it will also show you who truly stands beside you and who was never meant to walk this path with you.
To every Realtor out there grinding, feeling unseen, feeling unsupported—keep going. The right people will find you. Your hard work will be rewarded. And when you look back, you’ll realize that the ones who didn’t support you were never part of your destiny.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m Michelle P. Simmons, a dedicated Realtor specializing in First-Time Homebuyers and Relocating Buyers—especially those making the exciting move to Georgia! My passion lies in helping people achieve the dream of homeownership, whether they’re stepping into the market for the first time or relocating to build a new chapter of their lives.
What sets me apart is my hands-on, client-first approach. I don’t just sell homes—I educate, guide, and advocate for my clients every step of the way. I understand that buying a home is one of the biggest decisions in a person’s life, and I take that responsibility seriously. With an extensive network of builders and mortgage professionals, I ensure my clients have access to the best financing options, incentives, and opportunities available.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the ability to help my fellow Trinbagonians and other international buyers navigate the U.S. real estate market. Moving to a new country or state can be overwhelming, but I make the process seamless, ensuring my clients feel informed, empowered, and excited about their new home. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy and relief on a buyer’s face when they realize, “I did it—I own a home!”
My approach isn’t just about transactions; it’s about building relationships and changing lives. I treat my clients like family because I truly care about their success. My journey hasn’t always been easy, but my commitment to helping others achieve their dreams keeps me going every single day.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in real estate is that not knowing can cost you more than you think.
I enjoy working with buyers—good, hardworking people—some thought they weren’t ready to buy a home simply because no one had ever taken the time to educate them. The buyers I encounter assume they need perfect credit, a massive down payment, or years of preparation, when in reality, they could have been homeowners much sooner. Some have waited years renting, throwing money away, because they were told buying a home was out of reach. Others missed out on thousands of dollars in incentives and down payment assistance just because they didn’t know they existed.
This is why I do what I do. I don’t just help people buy homes—I educate, empower, and guide them. Because I never want to see someone delay their dreams simply because they didn’t have the right information.
