Today we’d like to introduce you to Jules Grand
Hi Jules, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my hospitality journey in event marketing/party promotion in Philly. Looking for a fresh start I decided to start over in LA in 2015. And in 2017 I took another one-way flight to a new city. After applying to about 40 jobs per day- I got an interview at a major department store in Atlanta. From there, I started working on my craft and studying fashion, men’s tailoring, and the local music scene. My first celebrity customer was a local emerging artist. From there, I began working with entertainers, influencers, music executives, business owners, models and athletes. I decided to expand my business to personal shopping for a few select clients. And eventually, I was asked to style their video shoots as well. Fast-forward to 2025. Currently I am a published Stylist with a wide range of clients and a portfolio of top music videos, photo shoots and brand campaigns.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road was not smooth at all and it’s still a challenge. As a new Atlanta transplant- not only was I still getting to know the city, I was getting to know the clientele and the fashion world at the same time. As a woman in a male dominated industry: I must be 10 steps ahead of everyone, including my colleagues and competition. The entertainment world is constantly changing- if you do not build relationships, you will not last.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I divide my time between personal shopping, personal styling and creative direction. Every day, the roles in my position change depending on the clients needs. As a personal shopper, I pride myself on finding sold out/early release items. As a personal stylist. I am known for taking their style to the next level. Where they feel comfortable but also on trend with what is going on in fashion. I love when clients trust my vision and get compliments from everyone. As a creative director working with production, clothing brands and artists. I set myself apart by thinking inside the box. Meaning, I add to, but don’t overwhelm the main vision. My job is to make their lives easier across the board. My specialty is convenience.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
In the entertainment industry, risk taking is a part of the game. My major risks include; funding multiple projects on my own- waiting to be reimbursed later by the labels. In the music business, sometimes you are paid 30 to 90 days after the project has wrapped. Traveling to Paris fashion week solo- managing to attend events, network with industry giants and sightsee all without speaking the language. And finally- walking up to potential clients you don’t know is a big risk. The worst they can say is no. You never know how far your work ethic will take you, I just Bet On Me.
