Rising Stars: Meet Robert Reum of Midtown Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Reum

Hi Robert, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began DJ career in 1987, performing at hotel bars throughout the southeast. In 1992, I had the opportunity to work at Backstreet Atlanta, which was open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. My name started gaining more recognition when I began working the weekend Morning Glory shift (5am – noon) twice a month, along with my Monday night residency. I worked there until it closed in 2004, when I was the head Dj at the time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have been very fortunate to have worked solely as a DJ. I have never had day job.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Through my experience as a DJ, I have learned to create a distinct vibe and sound that sets me apart from DJs. When people walk into a club can immediately recognize my presence the music I am playing.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
In 2003, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and decided to take a step back from my DJing schedule to concentrate on my health.
