Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Bush
Hi Brian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well my journey to becoming the current boomer of platinum championships wrestling started back in 2009 at the art institute of Atlanta where I met Dominic De la Vega and the vandal, Dominic de Jesus and Stephen veren, who were about to Begin their wrestling training as well. After a few conversations I joined them. And over the next few years we wrestled all over the state of Ga, including places such as the old masquerade, eyedrum the academy theater, and the jungle. Around 2012 PCW officially moved out to porterdale ga and our founder moved with his family to Florida leaving PCW in a transitioning phase. In the meantime I was traveling with my tag team partners Geter as part of the Big FN Deal, DeLaVega as part of the young and reckless and forever opponents the Washington Bullets, wrestling all over ga, south Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida gaining valuable experience I didn’t realize would come in handy later on. Unfortunately right when I felt I was hitting my stride in wrestling I ended up spending 6 months in Clayton county jail for fitting a description I didn’t actually fit, in 2017. When I got out the landscape of Ga wrestling had changed, not for the better or worse. There was just an influx of new talent who needed guidance and I found myself one of the new veterans who knew how things worked and found myself more often than not helping get other guys over and helping structure matches. Flash forward a few years, PCW found itself looking for a new home and we implanted ourselves in Covington GA, right as pandemic hit. The wrestling community has a unique opportunity to continue to entertain while the rest of the world was stuck at home. So we did. Around this time a stable we had formed post jail time the Undeniable, myself Shane Marx, one of the wrestlers responsible for my training and Matt Hankins, PCW booker, manager extraordinaire, and sometimes wrestler were riding high, so high in fact we won faction of the year in the state. I won the PCW heavyweight title during pandemic becoming the only wrestler in PCW history to win every title, trophy and tournament we have ever had. During this time I began agenting matches at PCW and other shows in the state that I was working. Matt Hankins would often be out of town for work and I’d have to take over the show. And officially in 2022 I took over Booking duties from Matt as he “retired”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There’s plenty of struggles and obstacles as a booker, as I’m not a people person. And now here I am having to daily deal with wrestlers drama, fan concerns, opposing wrestling shows and the overall success of the show. My biggest obstacle was stepping away from in ring competition at PCW as I thought it would be easier to run the show from the outside looking in. Plus I can wrestle elsewhere….
Yeah not so much
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well when I started training with PCW and eventually working shows, it was a bunch of unknown nobodies trying to make a name for ourselves in the Georgia Independent wrestling scene and we did. So when I took over I wanted to keep that our things, Developing new talent. And thus far I’ve think we’ve done a good job. I get a sense of pride watching wrestlers that started training with us working other shows in other states. As for what sets us apart, we have always been the try anything promotion and I fell we are keeping that alive to, you won’t find another promotion in the state, or country that’ll occasionally have a confetti warfare match.
Any big plans?
Not gonna lie, retirement. I’ve been in the wrestling scene since I was 21. I’m 38 now and plan on being completely done at 40. But I’m wanna leave PCW in a state better than it was when I took over. I’ve already changed the belts, with more incoming, I’ve changed how we go about doing things and our overall outlook and I hope these are things that stick once I’m gone.
