Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I launched DYME Collection in January 2022, but it’s more than just a brand—it’s a heartfelt tribute and a bold step into the world of fashion. Inspired by my own name, I created DYME Collection with a vision to bring something fresh and meaningful to the industry. It all started with an innovative idea: a line of pyramid-shaped purses that capture the brilliance of a diamond.
My journey into entrepreneurship was driven by a deep desire to make my mark in fashion while honoring my late mother, who was my biggest cheerleader. Every piece in the DYME Collection is a reflection of impeccable craftsmanship, love, resilience, and ambition—values that define both me and my brand.
Rooted in creativity and rich with meaning, DYME Collection is a true representation of Black excellence. It’s more than just fashion; it’s a movement that inspires others to chase their dreams and build their own legacy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building DYME Collection came with challenges—figuring out manufacturing, funding production, and standing out in a competitive industry. There were moments of doubt and setbacks, but I stayed committed to my vision. Every struggle taught me resilience and pushed me to keep going. The journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of DYME. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
DYME Collection is more than just a fashion brand—it’s personal. I started this journey in January 2022, inspired by my own name and driven by a desire to create something meaningful. My first design, a line of pyramid-shaped purses, wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about representing brilliance, resilience, and uniqueness—just like a diamond.
What sets DYME Collection apart is the heart behind it. Every piece is a reflection of my story, my creativity, and my late mother’s legacy. I pour intention into every design, ensuring that each product is bold, high-quality, and unforgettable.
One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing how people connect with the brand. It’s not just about selling fashion—it’s about inspiring confidence, celebrating individuality, and showing that you can turn your vision into reality.
At the end of the day, DYME Collection is a movement. It’s about taking risks, standing out, and embracing your own brilliance. Whether it’s through our statement pieces or the message behind them, I want people to feel empowered every time they wear DYME.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I see risk-taking as a necessary part of growth, especially in entrepreneurship. You can’t build something great without stepping outside of your comfort zone. For me, launching DYME Collection was one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. I was stepping into the competitive fashion industry with a unique concept—pyramid-shaped purses—that wasn’t like anything else on the market. There was always that question of, Will people connect with this? Will it succeed?
But I believed in my vision, and I knew that if I didn’t take the leap, I’d always wonder what if? Every decision, from investing in production to putting my personal story into the brand, came with uncertainty. But I’ve learned that risk, when paired with passion and preparation, can lead to incredible rewards. Even when things don’t go as planned, every challenge is a lesson that pushes me forward.
I think the key to risk-taking is trusting yourself, being willing to adapt, and understanding that failure isn’t the opposite of success—it’s part of the journey toward it.
