Conversations with Nausheen Amir

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nausheen Amir

Hi Nausheen, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started as just a fun activity in June of 2011, my daughter Mariah made my Facebook page and at that time I didn’t just focus on baking I named it Inspirations Unlimited because I mentioned a lot of things that I used to do at that time baking, glass painting, henna art, decoration, oil painting etc. and put some pictures of my dessert table set ups that I used to do for my personal parties that I loved hosting for family and friends but at that time I never knew I could make and decorate cakes so for all my parties I used to buy cakes from stores. One day I got interested in taking a decorating class at Michael’s and then after I took that class still didn’t think I had it in me to decorate these extravagant cakes that I can make now. Then they offered a class to learn how to stack a cake and I thought why not let’s give it a try and took that class and on the same day one of my friend’s brother in law was getting married so I asked her if I can bring that cake to her party and she said yes. I decorated on her theme colors. Everyone appreciated my cake so much that it gave me a boost of confidence and I took more interest in making cakes and learning about it took some more classes from the out of town bakers that came in from different states and that’s how my journey started. But I love to see the start and where I am now. My mom always saw it in me and always pushed me to do something about the gift I have and alhamdulilah it’s my parents duas and god’s will that I am where I am and what I am able to do.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was always a learning experience as I was not a buisness minded person so it was hard for me to learn the tactics how to run a buisness. I am still learning on the way. Sometimes I am disappointed but try to learn from my mistakes and move on.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love to see the happiness when people see my work. It makes it all worth while to do so much hard work but when I see the lit up faces and appreciation it gives me urge to step up and face more challenges and learn new things to provide to my customers. I listen to each and every client and what their requirement is try to give them the best even if it is not included in what we discussed but if it will make their cake or dessert table better i add it from my side. The most proud moment for me was when I finished assembling my eleven tier cake at fox theater.

How do you think about happiness?
I will say it’s not easy work. Takes a lot of hard work and dedication. Sleepless nights and away from family but after all these sacrifices when the clients reply back that they loved my work that gives me the most happiness and I really feel humbled and proud of where I am today. My family played a very important role in supporting me through my journey. I am blessed to have a supportive husband and kids that help me out when I need it. So thankful for my followers on Instagram and Facebook that encourage me to try to do new things and challenge myself even more. Thank you for all the love and support.
