Hi Katya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
To grow a business, you have to show your face. You have to give your audience a real person to connect to.
When I started my photography business, I was perfectly happy hiding behind the camera, thank you very much. I moved to the U.S. from Ukraine as a young adult, figuring things out entirely on my own. I worked hard, built my life from scratch, and thought, cool, I can keep promoting my work, it sells itself, no one has to really know me.
Except… that’s not how it works.
People want to connect with you, not just what you do. And the moment I accepted that, everything changed.
My love for photography started when my daughter was born—I wanted to freeze every little moment and never forget a single first. So, I spent way too many late nights (and drank way too much coffee) teaching myself photography. By the time she turned one, I was fully obsessed and turned my passion into a business.
Yes, I’m 100% self-taught!
But the real challenge? Learning to show up for my own brand.
I knew how to make other people look amazing, but when it was my turn? Immediate panic. Cue the awkward posing, the where do I put my hands crisis, and the what do I even say spiral.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
building my business has been anything but easy. there were seasons of doubt, of taking on too much, of wondering if all the effort was ever going to pay off. i’ve had to navigate pricing fears, boundaries, and the pressure to always be “on.” but through every challenge, i kept refining, adjusting, and believing that the version of me who has what i want is the one willing to do the hard things. success wasn’t an overnight moment—it was built in the small, relentless choices to keep going.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
i grew up in ukraine during the post-soviet era, where resilience wasn’t just a mindset—it was a way of life. resources were scarce, but creativity was everywhere. people built, adapted, and found ways to thrive with what they had. that shaped me more than i realized at the time.
when i started my business, i carried that same determination with me. i didn’t have a roadmap, but i knew how to figure things out. i knew that success wasn’t about luck—it was about persistence, adaptability, and learning to see opportunities where others saw limitations.
that’s the foundation of my work today. i don’t just create beautiful images; i help business owners step into the next level of their brand with confidence. because when you know where you’re going and you have the right tools to get there, nothing can stop you.
