Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxanne Spencer
Roxanne, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After years of working with teens and families through the juvenile court system, I decided to pursue my Master’s degree in Community Mental Health Counseling. I began working at a private practice that had a contract providing treatment services for Accountability Courts in Forsyth County. It was the perfect blend of my knowledge with the legal system and clinical counseling skills. I was able to see how rehabilitative services transform so many lives and the positive impact it had within their families, and the community as a whole. During COVID, my interest in opening my own practice reemerged. With the knowledge and support of three other incredible women (Kanya, DeAnna, and Fran) in September 2021, I was able to open Anchored Alliance Counseling and Consulting and see my dream turn into a reality.
When I am not working, I am planning my next beach trip, searching for the next concert to attend, painting my nails, and spending time with friends and family.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My practice accepts most insurance plans so the credentialing process to get set up was challenging. There are a lot of rules and regulations that a practice must follow to be in compliance. Although it can be challenging, accepting insurance provides affordability for so many seeking support through their insurance benefits.

The name Anchored Alliance came from my love for beach (an anchor) and recognizing the impact of the therapeutic alliance on positive clinical outcomes. I understand how difficult it can be for someone in need of support to take the first step. I take pride in ensuring that a prospective client has a smooth experience from the moment they reach out to the office by phone or email, until the completion of their therapeutic goals. We have four clinicians skilled in a variety of counseling modalities. Our specialties include: substance abuse, relationships, trauma, depression, perfectionism, anxiety, grief, and life transitions. We work with clients age 16+. Even if we are not a good fit based on scheduling, client needs, etc. we provide referrals in hopes it will ease the difficulty of their search.
