Daily Inspiration: Meet Kaiara Charles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaiara Charles

Hi Kaiara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a very young age. I’ve had a love for everything beauty, specifically skincare. I would make skin cocktails and give them to family members to try and use on my own face. I briefly remember my uncle allowing me to always clear the pustules from his face and allowing me to give him facials. When I got older, I did join the Air Force, but my love for skincare never left me. I would do lashes and facials part time on military spouses and Airmen. In 2021, I finally made the decision to become a licensed esthetician and prepare for my exit from the Air Force. In school, I could feel that it was exactly where I belonged. In school, my instructor took interest in another classmate and I, and properly mentored us. Gave us all the tools we needed for the professional esthi world. There were a few bumps in the road so I didn’t graduate until June 2023, which was also the same year my contract with the Air Force was up. I still didn’t have the drive I needed and doubt filled my mind. I would take clients here and there, mostly for lashes because that was the demand but I still wasn’t fulfilled. Long story short, I faced adversity and overcame it and I’m now stepping into what is meant for me. I’m now a full-time wax technician and specialize in facials, brow artistry and makeup.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy road. In 2022, I lost my grandmother, who has been a very vital part of my development, life and decision-making. I was very lost for a while, I attempted suicide, made a lot of bad decisions and hurt a few people that didn’t deserve it along the way. Which isn’t an excuse at all. Grief and anger was just the root of it all. During that time I missed school a lot which is why my graduation came at such a later date. I was arrested and that caused me to really wake up. God, two very good friends of mine, one that I consider my big sister and my mother spoke life back into me and supported me for the year I just really took to heal and forgive myself for everything. I’m now in therapy and in a much better place.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a licensed esthetician and the owner of Kanvas29, where I specialize in facials, henna brows and makeup services. My passion is enhancing natural beauty while providing a luxurious and relaxing experience for my clients. I’m known for my attention to detail, personalized approach, making my clients comfortable, and commitment to skincare education. One of my proudest accomplishments is creating a space where clients not only see results but also feel confident and cared for. What sets me apart is my ability to blend artistry with skincare, ensuring each service is both effective and aesthetically refined.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
God deserves most of the credit. He’s given me more grace and love than I deserve. But there are a few people that I specifically remember picking me up every time the thoughts or doubt came to include, but not limited to, my esthetician instructor, Xiomara Morin, my mother, Chasta, my two very dear friends Natalia & Jamesha.
