Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey in a very different space, first building a trucking empire. I saw an opportunity early on in the logistics industry, and I worked hard to grow and expand, developing a reputation for reliability and efficiency. That experience taught me a lot about business and logistics, and it also gave me the financial foundation to branch into new ventures.
As my success in trucking grew, I decided to diversify into real estate. The property market fascinated me, and I saw potential for long-term growth. Over the years, I’ve built a diverse portfolio, focusing on both commercial and residential properties. Real estate has been another pillar of my success, and it’s been an incredible journey seeing the value of investments increase over time.
Eventually, my passion for music led me into the entertainment industry. I’ve always had a love for music, and I saw an opportunity to merge my business skills with my passion. I got involved as a music executive and artist, helping to launch and guide careers, while also working on my own music projects. It’s been a great outlet for creativity, and I’ve enjoyed helping other artists along the way.
Today, I’m fortunate to have created multiple streams of income and to be in a position where I can help others build their own success. It’s been a journey of hard work, learning, and adapting, but it all comes down to taking risks, staying focused, and always looking for new opportunities.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like any entrepreneurial journey, there have been plenty of obstacles and challenges along the way. When I first started in trucking, it wasn’t just about buying a truck and hitting the road; there were so many moving parts, from managing drivers to maintaining a fleet, to dealing with the unpredictability of the market. There were plenty of long nights, and sometimes the financial strain was tough, especially in the early stages.
Transitioning into real estate wasn’t easy either. The market is competitive and unpredictable, and finding the right opportunities required a lot of research, patience, and persistence. I had to learn quickly, and there were definitely setbacks properties that didn’t perform as expected or challenges with contractors and permits. But with each hurdle, I learned something new that helped me grow as a businessman.
When I moved into the music industry, it was an entirely different beast. The entertainment world is full of politics, egos, and ever-changing trends, which can be a tough environment to navigate. But through it all, I leaned on the skills I’d developed in other industries—especially problem-solving and adaptability. The struggle was real, but those experiences shaped the entrepreneur I am today.
Ultimately, the biggest challenge was staying resilient and not letting failures or tough times discourage me. Each struggle was a learning experience that made the successes even more meaningful. I want to express my gratitude to my billionaire mentor, George Kaiser, the owner of Kaiser-Francis Oil Company. I had the privilege of meeting him at a Jewish networking event hosted by the Jewish Federation in downtown Atlanta. During our conversation, I shared my desire to start a few companies, and I believe his response was, “Why limit yourself? Hire people to manage it for you.”
