Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany And Brianna Brown…mia Barnes
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From the moment they first mounted a bike as part of CREATE Cycling at the ages of 8 and 9, Brittany & Brianna Brown (11) and Mia Barnes (10) have been on a journey of resilience, growth, and adventure. These young cyclists started with local rides, learning the fundamentals of cycling, road safety, and teamwork. However, their passion and determination quickly propelled them beyond Milledgeville’s streets and onto some of the most challenging cycling routes in the state.
This past summer, they took on one of their biggest challenges yet—participating in the Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) as members of the BRAG Dream Team. Over the course of seven days, they pedaled an astonishing 450 miles from Atlanta to Savannah, enduring grueling hills, long distances, and unpredictable weather. Their perseverance was put to the ultimate test on Day 5, when they completed a century ride (100 miles in one day)—a feat that many seasoned cyclists aspire to but never accomplish.
Through sheer determination, discipline, and the unwavering support of their teammates and coaches, Brittany, Brianna, and Mia not only completed the ride but emerged stronger, more confident, and deeply connected to the cycling community. Their journey is a testament to the power of commitment, proving that with the right mindset and support, young riders can achieve extraordinary things.
As they continue to grow in the CREATE Cycling program, these three girls serve as role models for their peers, inspiring the next generation of young cyclists to chase their dreams—one pedal stroke at a time.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey through BRAG was anything but a smooth road—literally and figuratively. There were moments of exhaustion, doubt, and physical strain, especially when the heat intensified or unexpected rain made the ride even tougher. But in those moments, the encouragement from coaches, parents, and fellow riders made all the difference. The kids pushed through, knowing the finish line was within reach. They learned the importance of pacing themselves, taking breaks when needed, and fueling their bodies to keep going. And when they finally crossed that last mile, the sense of accomplishment was indescribable. It was a challenging feat, but one that left them feeling empowered, proud, and ready to take on even greater challenges ahead.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At CREATE, Inc., we teach our kids the values of discipline, perseverance, and teamwork—and those kids put in the work. Our cycling program is structured to challenge and elevate our students, starting with a beginner group, progressing to intermediate, and ultimately earning a spot in the travel group.
To qualify for the travel group, students must demonstrate both physical endurance and commitment by maintaining a minimum pace of 14 miles per hour and successfully completing at least 40 miles at that pace. This is no easy feat, but Brittany, Brianna, and Mia have not only met these expectations—they’ve exceeded them.
Because of their dedication and growth, they earned the opportunity to travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to participate in the Black Wall Street Ride, ride through the historic streets of Memphis, Tennessee, explore the culture of Montego Bay, Jamaica with Cycle Jamaica, and even take part in cycling events in Washington, D.C., as well as numerous rides across Georgia.
These young cyclists put in the effort, push their limits, and rise to every challenge. Their journey is a testament to what hard work and determination can achieve, and they continue to set the bar for others in the program.
