Inspiring Conversations with Breyana Butler of Big Bang Fotos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Breyana Butler

Hi Breyana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hey, I’m Breyana, and I’m from the south side of Atlanta—a place that’s been shaping me since before I could even spell “hustle.” Growing up here, I’ve seen it all: struggle, resilience, and a whole lot of traffic. But you know what? We make it work. From dodging potholes the size of small craters to juggling life’s curveballs, the south side taught me that if you want something, you better get ready to work for it—and maybe carry a few extra snacks for the road.

My story might sound familiar. It’s a remix of a lot of other stories—struggles, dreams, and the occasional “What am I doing with my life?” moment. But it’s my story, and honestly, that’s all that matters. I’ve learned the hard way that success doesn’t come easy. Sometimes, you have to elbow your way into a room just to be seen, but we keep pushing. We’re fighters. We hustle. We grind. And when it feels like we’re running out of space, we just make more. No dream is too big, and no obstacle is too tall (except maybe that one pothole I mentioned).

Speaking of dreams, one of my biggest career moves was accidentally falling into the photo booth industry. Big Bang Fotos! I’ve always loved creativity and capturing moments—let’s be real, who doesn’t love a good selfie? So, I thought, “Why not bring the fun of photos to parties and events?” What started as a side project—just me, a camera, and some serious party vibes—quickly turned into something way bigger than I expected. It went from, “Hey, I can add some flair to this wedding,” to “Wait, this could actually be my thing!” I quickly realized this was not just a hobby; it was my calling.

The more I got into it, the more I saw how impactful a photo booth can be. It’s not just about clicking a button; it’s about making people laugh, connecting with them, and giving them memories they’ll keep forever. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or a birthday bash, being part of someone’s big day and helping them capture that joy has been way more fulfilling than I could have imagined.

Building my own photo booth business (BIG BANG FOTOS) has been a rollercoaster of learning new things, stumbling through challenges, and realizing I’m not as tech-savvy as I thought. (Who knew setting up lighting would feel like launching a NASA mission?) There were definitely times I wondered, “What am I doing?” But my Atlanta roots kicked in, and I remembered we don’t give up. I’ve had the honor of working with amazing people, sharing in their celebrations, and seeing the magic that happens when you capture someone’s happiness on film (or screen, depending on the event).

What really keeps me going, though, is the people I’ve met along the way—family, friends, and even people I met at events who ended up becoming part of my circle. Their support and belief in me have been my secret weapon. Whether it was a friend giving me a pep talk or a mentor showing me how to take a decent photo (no, it’s not all just filters), these moments have reminded me of one thing: we all have a story to tell.

And this is just the beginning. My journey’s still unfolding, and I’m determined to keep pushing forward—not just for me, but for anyone who’s ever faced the odds and said, “Watch me.” The south side of Atlanta is where I came from, but it doesn’t define me. I’m more than my zip code. I’m a work in progress, full of resilience, hustle, and the occasional awkward photo op.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Ah, obstacles. You can’t have a success story without a few bumps, bruises, and random moments where you wonder if you’ve accidentally signed up for a reality show called “Survive the Struggle.” But here’s the thing—I didn’t let these challenges stop me. Instead, I just got really good at finding creative solutions and laughing through the chaos. Let me walk you through a few of the hurdles I’ve hurdled (pun intended).
The Budget Struggle (AKA “Where Did All My Money Go?”):
Let’s be real: starting a business is expensive. Like, surprisingly expensive. When I first jumped into the photo booth game, I had to get creative with my budget. I was out here Googling “cheap camera equipment” and “how to make a professional setup with duct tape and cardboard.” Turns out, I couldn’t run a business on sheer determination alone (sadly). But after a lot of ramen noodles, late-night budgeting, and maybe one too many “what was I thinking?” moments, I eventually got the hang of making my dollars stretch.
Imposter Syndrome (AKA “Who Let Me Be in Charge of This?”):
There’s always that moment when you start something new, and suddenly you’re like, “Wait, am I qualified to do this? Can someone double-check that I’m not secretly faking it?” Especially when I first started booking events, I’d get all excited until it hit me: they’re trusting me to capture one of their biggest moments! Cue the internal freakout. But, as with most things in life, the key is faking it until you make it—just with a little more practice and fewer accidental camera malfunctions.
The “I Have to Work 24/7” Reality Check:
Running a business is a marathon, not a sprint. And in the beginning, it felt like I was running a marathon… while also being asked to bake cookies, go grocery shopping, and solve world hunger all at once. At times, I barely had time to sit down, let alone enjoy a meal that didn’t involve a drive-thru. But eventually, I realized that work-life balance doesn’t have to be a myth. I learned to delegate, take breaks, and remember that the world wouldn’t end if I took a nap (although it sure felt like it at times).

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
