Meet Vieira Owens of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vieira Owens

Hi Vieira, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
If you had told me five years ago that I would be where I am today, I wouldn’t have believed you. I started as an assistant planner in Atlanta, working under an event planner, and now I own my own business with amazing clients. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of creating unforgettable experiences—from baby showers and weddings to proposals and hotel room makeovers—leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those around me, which I find truly incredible.

Right now, my focus is on growing my business into a one-stop shop for all my clients’ event needs. It took believing in myself, stepping out of my comfort zone, and seizing new opportunities to get here.

Looking ahead to 2025, my goal is to continue creating magical and memorable events while also engaging in more social projects. I don’t just want to showcase beauty—I want to build and be part of a strong, supportive community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, I faced several setbacks while building my business into what it is today. Not only did I have to deal with rejection and being underestimated because of my age, but I also had to constantly prove that I knew what I was doing and that I could be successful in this industry. As a Black woman, the challenges were even greater.

On top of that, I am naturally an overthinker. Many times, while planning, I would second-guess myself and feel like I was making the wrong decisions. No one tells you that when you’re running a business, there’s no real reassurance that you’re on the right track—you just have to keep going and trust that the choices you make are the right ones.

I genuinely love making people happy, but one of the hardest lessons I’ve learned is that you can’t please everyone. Sometimes, you have to stand firm in your decisions, even when you second-guess yourself. Over time, I’ve learned to remind myself that I am the expert in my field. I know what I’m talking about, and confidence in my own abilities is crucial for success.

Thankfully, I’ve found ways to build that confidence and manage stress. When faced with difficult situations, I take a nap, go to the gym, or, more recently, take a walk to help clear my mind and ground myself. These small habits have made a big difference in helping me stay focused and push forward.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an event planner specializing in weddings and parties, and I pride myself on creating unforgettable experiences that exceed expectations. My approach is rooted in meticulous attention to detail, clear and effective communication, and a genuine passion for bringing people together.

Over the years, I’ve built a reputation for delivering events that feel both personal and perfectly orchestrated. I’m known for my detailed instructions, which ensure that every aspect of an event is executed flawlessly. Whether it’s coordinating with vendors or managing the finer details behind the scenes, I make sure every element aligns with the vision of my clients.

While I love planning all types of events, I’m especially proud of my work on proposals and dinner party events. I thrive on the intimacy and warmth that these occasions bring. There’s something truly magical about watching friends and loved ones come together, and I pour my heart into crafting moments that are as unique as they are memorable.

What sets me apart in this industry is my proactive and strategic approach. I maintain strong, ongoing relationships with my vendors, which allows me to ensure a seamless flow from planning to execution. My commitment to clear communication and persistent follow-through guarantees that every event not only meets, but often exceeds, my clients’ expectations.

In every project, I bring creativity, passion, and an unwavering dedication to perfection—transforming each event into a beautifully curated celebration of life’s most meaningful moments.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
’m biased toward Atlanta because I grew up here. I’ve traveled quite a bit, but no matter where I go, there’s always a sense of relief when the captain announces that we’re 15 minutes from landing at Atlanta’s airport—I’m home.

Atlanta is one of the best cities I’ve ever lived in. Its diversity and ambition have shaped my mindset as a Black woman in America, showing me that I can be and achieve anything I set my mind to. Growing up here, I saw people who looked like me becoming CEOs, building businesses, creating communities, and teaching others. I’ve had women advocate for me because they recognized in me the same drive and ambition that I sometimes forget I have.

When I travel—whether abroad or within the U.S.—I often notice that I’m the only person of color in the room. That contrast makes me appreciate Atlanta even more. Here, when you say your dreams out loud, others will rally around you to help make them happen. Atlanta is Black people uplifting Black people.

However, what I don’t love about Atlanta now is the cost of building a community. There are so many affluent and influential people here, yet access to those circles often comes with a price tag—whether through exclusive membership clubs, networking groups, or even recreational sports. It feels like you have to pay just to connect. And with the city’s notorious traffic, getting from one place to another—especially for events—can be a hassle.

I wish there were more free, accessible events across all areas of Atlanta, making it easier for people from different backgrounds to connect without financial barriers.
