Today we’d like to introduce you to J.C. King
Hi J.C., so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Interesting question because I don’t really think that I’ve gone too far my starting point. My start was small just like everyone else’s, I was a kid. I was 12, to be exact, on punishment and my mom decided to try some novel idea of discipline. She required that I write her a story since I loved to talk so much during class and when others were talking.
So my journey started just about over 20 years ago but at the same time, the real work took place just shortly after starting college when I was requested that I start recording some of my poems and even write a few lines for friends and family. So in 2025, I am a publish author of stories and poems. All of my work is available on Barnes and Noble.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing has been smooth about this journey, it is no joke. Restlessness nights. Writer’s block that doesn’t fade no matter what you try. It has been tough but rewarding. I am doing what I love and hoping to leave a lasting impact on all of those who’ve read my work.
But I won’t lie, my biggest obstacle right now would be meeting my deadlines for all pieces of work; articles and book releases have been pushed back due to so many ideas being worked on at once but time management is key and I’m slowly but surely taking advantage of that each day.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, I am a writer of stories and poems as I’ve said. I’m also a social media manger for a nonprofit organization which is complete separate and different from my author work.
I’d like to say that I’m known for my writing and muscial commentary/reviews that were once frequently published on my Medium blog. And I guess I’ll say that I’m proud to be recognized for this but at the same time, my published work reigns supreme and that’s what separates me from others.
I do not have an image to maintain or identity that’s falsified to fit the narrative of what a poet or writer looks like or how he views the world around him. I am proud to be my own individual yet equally proud to be part of a larger community that continues to push the limits of creativity and intelligence.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Consistently putting one foot in front of the other because with them aligned, seeming to be sedetary, you will never move forward in life. So forward progress is how I would define success. All else is subjective and relative to personal preference.
